I'm also experiencing the same issue. In a world that my partner and my friends and my brother have a put a lot of effort into, TrashTauk. My partner's account seems to be the affected split screen account, any time he tries to join the world, it says Building Terrain instantly and stays on that screen.
We attempted a workaround we saw somebody else using, to make a copy of that world. This did not work. If he loads a world on his PSN account, I can join and play just fine, regardless of game mode. He can join and play just fine on other world's saved to my PSN profile as well. We played just fine before the most recent update, and once the day of the update, but I believe there was some lag from an undetermined source but we were able to play. Since this issue had been around for other people for more than a week, it's safe to say the most recent update is not the sole cause of this bug.
