After some experiments, I could see that now I can play with my friend but only if the world is owned by a third person. By the way, More and more often I have a problem that causes the game menu to freeze and I can't do anything more. The only solution I've found is to reinstall the game. This problem may be related to the one we are talking about here because it is since the appearance of this new bug that I can play with my friend. I hope it can help, and it would be really nice if after so many months Mojang would finally give us some news about it...

I've been experiencing this problem on PS4 since January, and I reported it here in February. However, I was able to play yesterday in multiplayer with my friend with whom it didn't work before. I don't really understand why, because we both tried many times to reinstall the game on our console and it didn't change anything about the problem... Yet after I reinstalled it again yesterday, we were able to connect together in the world of a third friend. We didn't try to connect directly to each other's world after that for fear that it wouldn't work again.
I find this really strange because, like I said, reinstalling the game hadn't solved our problem until now.On top of that, it was also impossible for us to join a third person's world if one of us was connected to it, which really prevented us from being in the same game at the same time (unless we launched Editions). So I really can't understand why it worked yesterday, but maybe it can be a lead to finding a solution.

I have also this problem. I play on ps4 and since the upgrade to Bedrock Edition, there is a friend (also on ps4) with whom I can't play multiplayer. I manage to join the world of all my other friends (also on ps4), but if I try to join his game (or vice versa), the game displays a message saying that I can't connect to his world. We can't connect to a third friend's world (ps4) at the same time either, but we can join his game separately, and he can join each other's game.
We have the same NAT type (2), and we've tried a lot of possible solutions like deleting each other from our friends lists and then adding each other again, getting invited into the game by another player, disabling cross-play... Nothing solves the problem, which is quite annoying because we haven't been able to play together for months now.
