In at least 31a and 32a (haven't tested others for this), I've noticed that this bug seems to only trigger if the game is maximized after a world begins to load. The main menu does not encounter the bug, and if a game experiencing the bug has the world reloaded from the main menu while maximized, the bug isn't present upon reloading.
Would someone with appropriate permissions please modify the description to reflect this? It's important for replication.
The exact distortion seems based on the size of the window before maximizing. I'm seeing the bug on Mac OS 10.6.8 with Java 1.6.0_65 and an NVIDIA GeForce 9400 (should probably upgrade all of the above sometime…)
