Yep, it's fixed (in the 1.9 snapshots). It doesn't move the item at all, which for me is preferable. Also, when you middle-click on a block with NBT, even if you have an item with identical NBT in your hotbar, it will scroll to the item of the same type that has no NBT. If there isn't one for it to scroll to, it will create one. This is the ideal behaviour for me, as it means I can now use middle-click to get blank command blocks/signs. Note: It is also fixed for middle-clicking mobs.
