If you open the options menu you can your last position.

Can confirm for 1.8.9. Sounds are still played and if you open the options menu you can see around where you died.

Please Post the Error log from: "C:\Users\Irie\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\hs_err_pid6848.log" on your PC

The Tag for 1.7 doesn't exist because all reports older than 1.8.8 will be ignored

It seems like the "Level game mode" property of your save don't exist or your save was corrupted. The missing property could be caused by a bug.
