This issue happened for me as well.
1. This happened on my Realm with my friends. I play on Switch, Windows 10, and mobile.
2. All players were signed into Xbox Live, as it was a Realm.
3. No, I joined the world this morning on Switch. I logged off and then an hour later on the same Switch. The glitch occurred.

This happens on the Switch with the most recent official release as well. I'm sorry to say it, but it seems as if realms was not tested for this update. This should literally not be happening at all.
