Update on this issue by [~Mega_Spud]
20-July-18 - Today's update (1.5.1.2) is the first part if the fix that should stop any more player save data being lost. The team is working on a solution to try and recover lost inventory items. The advice so far is do not uninstall the game on the device where you last saw your old inventory.
11-July-18 - We are still looking into this issue, but in the meantime, if you could let us know a few details in the comments below it would be most helpful:
Did this affect you on a Realm or a normal world?
If it was a normal world, were all the players signed in to Xbox Live?
Did you switch devices/platforms before your inventory etc was wiped?
People are logging in and having all their character data deleted and reset back to spawn point. Thank you for ruining hundreds of hours of gameplay working on building the latest enchantments and mining for all the best gear.
Edit: I'll chime in on the request by Mega_Spud.
This has affected myself and friends on both a normal world, and Realms.
On normal worlds, not everyone signed into Xbox accounts. On Realms, everyone had to.
On a few occasions, one player would log in from the same device (Switch) and be reset. I've logged in from the Switch, and PC, and had my character reset. So, there seems to be no rhyme or reason, but many people below, in the comments, are reporting that not-switching, and switching platforms causes player resets.

It was me that it happened too, and yes I can confirm I was logged in correctly I reset my switch twice, reloaded the game the whole deal, and when I joined it set me back to spawn point and I lost everything.

Thankfully we had a copy of the world saved so we were able to resort back to an earlier build, but we lost a whole days progress to do so. Hopefully, this can be fixed.

And yes everyone logs into their Nintendo and Microsoft account when joining because I can see their Xbox names on my Friends List on the Switch. (This is weird.)

Can confirm now. I moved my server to Realms and myself and Samantha were reset again. Sigh...

Seems to be reported here too: MCPE-35395

This has happened to three of my Realm members now. They've lost everything.
It was not on their first login after the Update Aquatic Part 2 (1.5). It happens at a random time after having already played since the update.
I've made a quick warning / explanation video on it here https://youtu.be/Gq5MNHODaQg

This has impacted two of our realm members since the update. An additional note, one of them reported his player is never hungry now - confirmed he was in survival.
please address quickly. Thank you

I reported one of the bugs duped to this one; people asked me whether I was playing in Realms (no, simple world) and what platform - both I and the host were playing on Windows 10.

This happened on my realm as well and only with me playing on Windows 10. Though I did switch devices between the two logins where I noticed the wipe happen.

It happened to one of my realmmate, emptying everything in his inventory and echest, and spawning him back into the world spawn when he logged in. He also switched platform from ios to android, that might also be one of the reason, which led to the player data reset

This is happening on my realm, as well. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to what triggers it. For me personally, I logged on from Android earlier in the day. Then later from Windows 10. Everything was wiped on Win10. I did confirm that I was logged into XBL with the correct account. Since I'm the Realm Owner I could even change settings while in the game. Tried logging in from Android again but everything was still missing.
I restored one of the automatically taken backups to a point before I had logged on with Android. That restored the character data. Thankfully nothing major was lost since only a few people had logged in.
Switching from PC to PC seems to work ok.

This just happened to me as well. I was playing on our realm on Nintendo Switch and decided to log in on my phone while I was out and I started at the spawn point with no inventory and no xp...Please fix. Luckily I wasnt carrying anything important.

I also experience this issue. In my case my original spawn point is at least 10 full days of traveling away and I do not think it will be possible to find without the original treasure map that lead to the mansion sad face
What I did before it happened
Logged in with the usual Xbox account (via Xbox Live and Windows 10)
Deleted local data for cache and texture packs (not locally stored worlds though!)
Re-downloaded the texture pack Chroma Hills HD
Entered the realm I own
Found myself at the 1st spawn point again
Opened menu and pressed "Save and exit"
Navigated to Settings > Global resources
Selected Chroma Hills HD
Clicked the plus to add it to active packs
Re-entered the realm with the same result.
Platform: PC - Minecraft from the Microsoft Store

I wasn't placed back at spawn, my base is located near it though, but I lost everything on me and everything in my chests.
I was playing yesterday on my world I've been trying to recreate after Phase One was released and had no issues until now.
After I heard of Phase Twos release I left the beta program and uninstalled and reinstalled so I'm not sure if I would have lost my stuff anyways. It was my first time on since it updated. Even my old world, which is the same seed but created before Phase One, lost all the items.
I'm just afraid of trying to build back up my supplies in case I lose those too.

I had hopped onto my switch to see if realms were added to it which they were and hopped onto my realm, all was going well but I don’t play on switch usually, so I hopped onto my Xbox and everything was gone and was at spawn

I should clarify that it was only things in my inventory and my levels were gone

To all those who are saying they get wiped when switching platforms, that is still a bug on Mojang's end, regardless. You can't sell a game as Better Together, able to switch and play on any device, and then not disclose that doing so will erase all your character data.

Keeps happening to me and everyone on my realm. Either sends someone back to spawn with new player data, no items or levels and an empty ender chest, or spawns them in at an old location with old items in their inventory. Very weird and frustrating constantly losing inventorys and ender chests.

Same. My friend and I have a realm we've been playing on for about a month and a half (from both Xbox and Windows 10) with no problems. When phase 2 of the aquatic update came out, we were excited to see Realms support on the Switch, so we tried it out, and it worked fine. Then we switched back to Xbox and we both had our player data reset: returned to spawn, inventory gone, XP erased, etc. No one else on the realm has had this issue, just the two of us who logged in from Switch, then returned to Xbox. I have since gone back and forth between the two consoles a couple times with no issues, but am still worried it may happen again.

This happened to me too but changing between Windows 10 and Android versions.
Please people, vote the bug.

I can confirm this happened in my realm as well to at least 2 people. It seems to happen when switching from one platform to another and back, such as playing on xbox, logging in on mobile for a while, then switching back to xbox again.

I logged into my spouse's Realms account on the Nintendo Switch for the first time. My inventory was there, I was happy, but when I saved and exited and logged in via the Xbox One my inventory was gone. Confirmed by logging back into the Switch and my iPad.
This affected my Ender chest as well (where I keep all my enchanted bows, picks, axe, etc. Trained dogs don't stand from sitting anymore either.
I suspect my Realms ID changed when I logged in via the Switch. I'm sure my inventory is still "there", just inaccessible. A similar thing happened in the past before I had an Ender chest around 1.4.0 but I lost far less (no Ender chest or enchanted tools) and besides starting at world spawn and loosing personal inventory my trained dogs weren't responding.

Apparently I voted on a duplicate issue... REALMS-1063 But same experience as others.
... Was so excited to see 1.5! Loaded and opened first on iPad. All inventory and items intact. Then closed and opened on PC (Windows 10) and find myself at spawn, inventory empty, no xp, no armor. I was equipping to go to the End, so lost some valuable equipment. 😞

Sorry for your loss. Didn't realize this is affecting lots of people. Hopefully it can be resolved soon. As a precaution, make backup saves each time you play, and be sure to unequip all your items before logging off and signing onto a different device. That's the best solution I've got till Mojang does the things.

Honestly this is so stressful
Hopefully the data did not get corrupted or something because if that's the case then everything will be gone forever woo
Also this issue happened when a friend rejoined my world after the update. They lost all their player data, from inventory to permissions! We're both playing on Switch by the way

Happened to me and my friend as well. We play on Xbox one. Fortunately i had already heard of the issue because it happened to my friend first, so i lost nothing of importance because I already took precautions.
Dont really feel like playing until issue is resolved :/

The same thing happens on my realm. I can play on xbox fine, but if I log in on Switch my character loses all xp levels and inventory including ender chest. I replaced my realm world with a backup from 3 days earlier and it was fine. Logged in on xbox and everything was restored. As an experiment, I logged in on Switch again and again was reset to 0 inventories and xp. Reverted back on xbox and xbox was fine again.

Seeing this in 1.5 for iOS regular games. Game host doesn’t seem to be affected, but all other players are. Haven’t observed it under normal game quitting, but happens every time host quits (or connection is lost or game crashes) before other players.

Happened on a Realm
N/A
I was affected and it was after I switched between two Windows 10 devices, my wife who was NOT affected has played on only one Windows 10 device.
I have had this happen twice. First I logged in and updated my realm on my secondary laptop. When I got home and played on my other computer my character was wiped. Yesterday I found out about automatic realm backups so I was able to restore from the backup, checked everything and it looked good. This restore was done from the secondary laptop. When I got home to my primary computer everything was wiped again and I had to restore another time.

This happened to us on realms.
My friend had it happened just playing on his xbox.
Mine was working fine first day of the update, but when i switched to my phone the next day it was wiped.
I can tell you one thing i found strange was when i left the realm, the first night before everything was wiped, instead of saying the normal saving game message it normally says it instead said generating world.

I've also experienced this issue.
Joined realm after update on IOS (was on for less than a minute) and I still had all of my inventory and player location
Next day (yesterday) joined same realm again on xbox (was placed at world spawn with no inventory)
I was the only person affected by this on our realm so we re-uploaded a back up of the realm from before I joined the first time
after reverting to a back up, I had my inventory and player location.
In Response to the questions:
Realm
NA
Yes

This was experienced with a Realm
NA
I did the following:
I created a new Realm on my Nintendo Switch
I uploaded a map to the Realm
I entered the Realm, spawned in the correct location, played the game a bit
I downloaded Minecraft for Kindle Fire
I logged into my xbox account and joined the Realm
I was plcaed at the spawn point for the world, not where I had actually been previously, and I had no inventory. Did not play enough to determine if anything else was wrong
I later entered the Realm on my Nintendo Switch and was placed at the wrong location, no inventory, etc. (possibly the location I was left at when I stopped using my Kindle, but I'm not sure).
I also noticed that, when I tried to mine a block, it was instantly replaced. The game was basically unplayable.
I then entered the Realm using my Kindle again, and observed the same problems.
I deleted the world and created a new one in the Realm. Everything worked as usual again *for that device* (I have not tried to log in from another device yet to see if it breaks things).

Happened to me after joining a realm on one platform and then switching to another platform. (WIN 10 to Pocket Edition)
Player data was wiped, ender chest experience armor and inventory, sent back to world spawn

1. Normal World (Have never played on any Realms before)
2. It was just me (But, yes, I was sighed in on Xbox Live)
3. Have never switched devices, only play on Xbox One (I did however leave the beta program the day of Phase 2's release, uninstalled, and reinstalled the game so I could be on 1.5)
If I can't get it back it would suck and be a setback but I would like to know if I need to get everything again and how soon I can so this doesn't happen any more. Haven't been playing because I don't want to waste my time and world resources.

I also had this happen. I was playing on my husbands realm on Xbox 1 after the update all was good. We got off and later last night July 12 I tried to get back on and I was reset. We don't play on any other consoles. I was also loged into Xbox live.
Is there going to be a fix or have we all lost everything? I also dont want to start over to have it happen again. I was several maps away from our base and lost months worth of work because of this.

If you are able to, have the realm owner download a back up of the realm. (Backups are made automatically. Choose one from before you noticed the spawn reset.) After downlaoding the back up replace the existing realm world with a back up. You may have to repeat this a few times going back in time of the back ups. Good luck!

Mega-Spud, I've chimed in on your request for more information in my description, at the top.

This bug happened on Windows 10 and Android and possiblyother platforms

This issue happened for me as well.
1. This happened on my Realm with my friends. I play on Switch, Windows 10, and mobile.
2. All players were signed into Xbox Live, as it was a Realm.
3. No, I joined the world this morning on Switch. I logged off and then an hour later on the same Switch. The glitch occurred.

Looking through other open issues, this is likely related to MCPE-33152 where pets no longer respond to commands due to the ownerID being reset on the player but not on pets or inventory.
Answering the above questions in my case:
The issue occurred on Realms following the 1.5.0 update
Affected users were logged into Xbox Live on all platforms
Inventory went missing after switching platforms (Switch to Xbox).
This issue also occurred following the 1.4.0 update when I switched from the Xbox One to the iOS version but, since I had switched between both in the past with no ill effects, attributed it to the update itself and considered it minor.
It was only after having a large set of enchanted items in an Ender Chest (and the trauma of killing 20 dogs that no longer responded to commands) that this became a real issue for me.
Think of those poor dogs that had to be put down 😞

All my inventory and Ender Chest inventory disappeared as well. I play on a Realm using Windows 10 edition. I logged in at 7am and everything was fine. I played about 45 minutes. Logged on 5 hours later using Windows 10 edition on a different PC and all my items were gone.

Did this affect you on a Realm or a normal world? Realm
If it was a normal world, were all the players signed in to Xbox Live?
Did you switch devices/platforms before your inventory etc was wiped? I was on Win 10 when the update came out, after updating Xbox one I went back into my realm and character was reset. I checked Android and iOS and same thing. I think it’s a server side issue. (And yes I have a lot of editions in my house lol)

Too late to back up... When will it be safe to play in Realms again? Can my realm be rolled back to before update came out? No point in playing now until this is fixed.

This happened to our Realms Server.
1) Realms
3) Yes and No
Review of what has happened so far: Player 1- used Xbox all day (has used other version before, but not recently) with no problem after the most recent aquatics 2 update. Player 1 then logged into the Realm host account on Xbox (which was last logged into IOS), the host account spawned in what appears to be the location (confirmed?) of another player with their items. Later on Player 2 logs in on host account back onto IOS, host account still on the wrong location, network lag kicks from the game - relog host in IOS and at spawn with no inventory/end-items. Player 2 logs in on another account that has most recently been on IOS (but has previously been Windows 10/Xbox) - all items are present. Player 2 lags out if this third account , relogs and account is at spawn with no inventory/end items.
The fix: Realm is then restored from a pre-patch state (using the new auto cloud realm backups, backed up to 2 days ago). Player 2 logs in as host and removes all items to safety on IOS. Player 2 then logs in on third account and safely removed all items. Player 2 then immediately relogs (did not close the minecraft app) back into host account and strangely enough the host account is now at the same location as the third account was with all of the third accounts inventory and end chest available (confirmed logged as host but seeing third accounts items).
Note: the server could not be restored from IOS (~600 meg... waited over 15 minutes at the screen with the message to wait a moment to update Realm multiple times) and we loaded the backup on Windows 10 and resaved it into the newest version before uploading ... also note that opening the backed up world when downloaded to both windows 10 and IOS on the host account has no immediate problems and host items were available (on both platforms ). This server is about 18 months old and is the 10 user realm version. The Realm was started on a single player IOS version, has never been overriden on the Realm server since it was first updated, and it is 100% survival with achievements still being received. The host and Xbox account both played on the aquatic patch 1 for a while and the third account has not logged into minecraft since before aquatics patch 1.
PS very thankful that the new auto-backup cloud feature has been added (didn’t even enable or know it was doing this)
Edited for accuracy and additional details.

The bug in question has only affected myself on my me and my friend's realm. I was aware of my player reset when I decided to log onto minecraft pocket edition instead of my windows 10 version. I had logged in and I was at the world spawn with all of my items gone and my enderchest items gone. So far all my other friends items are intact, though I am unaware at this point if they have switched from one platform to the other. I hope this is helpful into the discovery of this bug and finding a cure for it (maybe getting my items back but I dont know if thats up to the game devs or not)

Adding another datapoint. This happened to one of my kids’ account.
Local Survival world (non-Realm), no cheats
Mine: iOS (host), signed into XBox Live
Kid 1: Windows 10, signed into XBox Live
Kid 2: iOS, Not signed into XBox Live, affected by this bug, spawned at world spawn with both XP and inventory reset.

Crazy that the developers have yet to acknowledge this gamebreaking bug.

Developers?

This happened to me as well. I was playing in a friend's realm. I had logged in on my PC after the update briefly with no problem. Ran around and found a turtle. Later in the day I logged in on Android and was back at spawn with nothing.
I know it's a long shot, but does anyone think there's any hope of recovering lost items? I lost the result of a lot of work due to this bug and it has pretty much sapped my desire to play.

I logged in on Switch into my realm. Inventory and levels were erased. When I relogged into my Xbox, inventory and Ender chest contents were gone. When I logged into the Windows 10 edition levels, location, inventory and Ender chest inventory was all reset - as if I was a brand new player to the Realm. I am attempting to replace realm with a backup. But I am getting a ridiculously long loading screen.
This is really BAD.

The Devs are acknowledging this bug hince why Mega_spud is asking for more info. The more info we give them the better they will be able to find the problem.

I have three Xbox One systems being used in my home that access my Xbox live account, an X and two S. In addition on two are used with Minecraft, one of the Xbox One S boxes is used for Left for Dead 2 and that box has my primary Xbox Live account.
Now some observations and speculations; It is my belief that all of these issues are related. I have had ongoing issues with Minecraft that change with every bug fix release and feature update. PLEASE DO NOT REPORT ON ITEMS IN 1 THRU 4 IN THIS THIS ISSUE UNLESS UNLESS SPECIFICALLY ASKED BY Mega_Spud. AS 1 THRU 4 MAY OR MAY NOT APPLY TO THIS ISSUE.
1) Sync between my Xbox Ones has never worked properly, but has changed getting better of worse with updates.
2) I have had ongoing issues with global texture pack assignment sticking. A while back it was fixed, but then Matt Gartzke notified us that a small bug fix was released, but none of the fixes applied to me. That bug fix broke the global texture pack assignment and it has remained broken.
3) Launch for Minecraft fails (message says taking to long to launch).when starting it quickly after Xbox is booted from a cold start. This one may not be related to Xbox live, but more likely due to processes still starting after boot taking time away from the Minecraft launch.
4) Realm downloads and realm automatic backups have a issue similar to the current issue. User assignments (experience, inventory, ender chest, spawn, etc.) reset to an earlier point while non-user changes are current. This issue or variations of it have been going on for some time.Including the current related issue. I did realize recently that the restore to the realm of realm automatic backups worked properly, while the download to a non-realm world was still corrupted.
Because of stealing and griefing I have been launching Minecraft on my laptop while playing Minecraft on Xbox so I could watch for access to my realms in attempts to catch the culprit. We need to have logging for realms to manage the griefing and stealing. We were able to use the Xbox app and club access for a while to check who had been on the realm that day and make some determinations, but not that doesn't work.
It starts to become obvious that interaction with user data between Xbox systems and other platforms has issues that are ongoing and related some way to Xbox Live. This is compounded for realms because they are not included in the beta testing and assures there will be continuing issues with ongoing releases going forward. As time goes on I have seen more of my friends being impacted by realm issue and added a few friends with the latest issue. This type of testing needs to given priority for future releases.
I originally purchased two realms so i could use the world on two xboxes in my house due to the sync issues. Also I was able to download a world to save position. The download was helpful because we were unable to get autosaves turned off so we could manage saves. I was willing to pay for this the advantage and realms helped with these issues. I started to meet more Minecrafter's and realms were the way to so I could play with these friends. Currently all five of my 10 user realms are closed because of the latest issue. Unless something changes the future does not look good either. Some serious changes need to be made I know Mega_Spud is a valuable advocate. Also, please help him with things you know for sure about this issue.

After my problems listed yesterday. It is determined that replacing the realm with a backup results in error message. This needs to get fixed or I will be cancelling my realm here shortly.

I was unable to restore a backup from 7/10, (received error message) but was able to restore from 7/8 backup. Looks like everything is restored in that backup. However, has it been determined that the error occurs when player switches platforms? Not sure if we should continue playing on realm until this is resolved.

I'm starting to wonder now if I wouldn't have lost my stuff if I just stayed in the Beta Program instead of reverting back to 1.5 the day Phase Two was released.
I never tried playing that day with the Beta enrolled when it was released. I left it, uninstalled and reinstalled, and when I got in everything was gone. But I wasn't sent back to spawn like some others.
For the last few days, while back on the Beta Program, I've been getting on and checking my game. I collected four flowers and had one on my Hotbar, one in my Inventory, and the other two in two different chests. They've been where I put them this whole time.
But today I tried going back to 1.5 and left the Beta Program, yet again, to find the flowers missing from all the places just like before.
Also when I tried entering the game again it froze and crashed at the Mojang/Minecraft startup screens a few times, and after restarting the console it's put my Minecraft back in Beta even though it says I'm not enrolled.

I’ve been having this problem as well. My bf signs in and opens our game, then I join the game on the same Xbox for split screen and I get reset EVERY SINGLE TIME. We play in a vanilla world, most recent version, always signed in to Xbox live.

This bug states that this is occurring on Nintendo Switch, however I can confirm it's also happening on Xbox One. On 7/12 my wife logged into our world as a second payer (split-screen), and it not only lost all her current progress, it restored very old progress, from several weeks ago. Today, 7/15, she logged in again (same scenario), and this time it erased all her progress, and she appeared at world spawn as if she was a new player.
Version 1.5 | Xbox One X
Repro Steps:
Log into Xbox Live user 1 (me).
Boot Minecraft, and load local saved world.
User 2 signs in to join active play.
User 2 appears in world spawn, rather than last location, with all inventory items missing, and a blank map.

ShoutOut to Tom Holland for such a descriptive mention of realms and the musings of why it happens 😃
As for the info Mega_Spud asked
This was a realm
-
I switched device. It only happened after I switched. From a laptop PC to a custom rig PC

Since many people are talking about Realms and Switch, I’d like to mention again that this is happening in local worlds as well in my case. The player affected by this bug in my household never signed into XBox Live on his device and never switched devices either. The device that hosts the world has never been switched as well.

This happened to me today, here is the sequence of events. This is in a Realm.
Yesterday, I was playing on Xbox One. My son started the game and I was second player on split-screen. No issues.
This morning, I opened the Realm on my Android device. (I should note, this is very common, I have done it many times in the past without issue.) When the Realm loaded, I started at world spawn with no items or experience.
Moved about 50 blocks, then killed Minecraft app (from app switcher) and tried logging back in, hoping it wouldn't save that state. But I was placed exactly in the same spot. Note that it did save my location, did not place me back at spawn.
Restored Realm from yesterday's backup and opened on Android, I was placed back at world spawn with no items.
Restored Realm from an earlier backup from yesterday and opened on Android, still placed at world spawn with no items.
Restored Realm to latest backup from yesterday but DID NOT open on Android.
Re-created yesterday's login scenario - son logged in first, then my account as second player on split-screen. THIS RESOLVED MY PROBLEM. I was in exactly the spot where I logged out and had all of my items and experience.
So this could be advice to those watching this issue, on how to get their stuff back. At least on Realms, since they back up automatically. On local worlds, unless you have your own backup, you may be out of luck.
Restore Realm to last backup before you were reset.
Re-create your last successful login scenario precisely - same device, same other players.
Your mileage may vary but this worked for me.
Still, obviously this should be fixed.

Update!!
I was able to resore a backup and on the Xbox One. I got back my inventory, my location and my Ender Chest inventory.
I still won't use a different device to play unil I know that this issue is resolved.

LAN world. IOS.
Started playing, one of my children came into local world, I crashed. On restart, my child lost all items in inventory and XP along with being reset to spawn point. Tried on another iOS device with another child's player data. I crashed, on restart, different child lost all items in inventory and XP along with being reset to spawn point. So now, I have two children with no XP or inventory items. This occurred after the 1.5 update, aquatic update.

So glad a fix is coming out. I am very hopeful there is a way to recover lost items. This bug has driven me away from Minecraft because it's so depressing how much I lost.

Did this affect you on a Realm or a normal world? After not being able to make a back up copy of my realm (MCPE-35184) I was finally able to when 1.5 came out. I made the save and changed the resource pack to mandatory. I then reloaded the world as my realm. A few days later when I got on my realm everything on my player was gone including everything in my enderchest. I only had a blank map. I checked the save copy and I lost everything there as well.
If it was a normal world, were all the players signed in to Xbox Live? It was on the realm and a save of the real as a normal world. FYI I made the save the same day I purchased the Skytrade World from the store.
Did you switch devices/platforms before your inventory etc was wiped? Not that I recall.

This also happened to people who rejoin my world. But in my case, it might be different. I found that the game sometimes change permission settings for players. And when permission changes to Visitor, all progress on that character is lost. Even if that player was an Operator or Member before. Switching back to the Operator or Member will not return items or xp.

Normal world/no one signed into Xbox/did not switch devices.

Started happening to others on my daily minigames world (which nowadays is only broadcasted to Xbox Live), using Windows 10
Did this affect you on a Realm or a normal world? - This happens on a normal world.
If it was a normal world, were all the players signed in to Xbox Live? - Due to the world now only being broadcasted on Xbox Live the answer would be yes
Did you switch devices/platforms before your inventory etc was wiped? - Not always, sometimes people would be reset and on the same platform, other times people would switch platforms and be reset.
Using latest version 1.5.0.14 as listed in Windows Store

+Jonathan Hanzel dude, update your game to 1.5.1 (hotfix) to avoid being leached again. Developers are working on a second fix for helping players to recover their lost items.
Note : it's not 1.5.14, it's 1.5.0.14 and
1.5.1 =/= 1.5.0.14.

@Thibault The latest version I have been able to download through the Windows Store is 1.5.0.14
I don't see any versions past that.
Also thanks for noticing the typo, I just copied the version number labeled in the Windows Store (which shows as 1.5.14)

@Jonathan:
Insider tip for quickly locating app version numbers on Windows 10 (Version 1803 aka. The April Update)
Press the Windows key
Type "Minecraft" 1
Right click the result and select "App settings"
This way you are sure to always get the installed app on your local machine and not what the Microsoft Store reports (which can vary, and quite frankly, I understand your confusion!)
§1 - Assuming you have got it installed, of course 🙂

@Ragsna Asurac:
Going to Settings > Apps > Display & Apps > Minecraft > Advanced options > Version shows as 1.5.14, which would be equivalent to 1.5.0.14

We had this same issue happen to multiple players on our Realm. Hoping there's a way to get these lost items back since it's caused everyone to quit playing out of frustration of losing so many hours worth of items.

@Jonathan:
That is not what mine says. Maybe app versioning is different in your country?
Let us try something else.
When you open Minecraft for Windows 10 and navigates to Settings > How to get started > News, is the title in the announcement window 1.5.1 HotFix? (See attached screenshot)
If you do not see this, then you do not have the latest version of the app and should go to the Microsoft Store app and force check for updates 🙂
[media]
@Rahsna No it does not say 1.5.1 hotfix, it says 1.5.0 update. Trying to force the Microsoft Store app to check for updates comes back with "Your apps from Microsoft Store are up to date". Also I spelt your name wrong in my previous comment
EDIT: 5 hours later...
I opened the Microsoft Store app to update a different game (because trying to access an online mode gave me "You need to update your game to play this mode") and the Microsoft Store updated not just that one game, but also updated Minecraft to a different version than what you said you had, 1.5.201.0. The 1.5.201.0 update had fixed the issue and now nobody is having the issue when joining me.

This happened to me using Realms. I played a little on Xbox on the morning after the update dropped, all good. Logged in with Win10 at lunch, spawned as a new player, naked with a map in my hand at world spawn. Nothing else in my inventory, and even worse, nothing in my ender chest. All my shulkers full of gear, prized possessions, etc.... gone. And now, when I make a new map, my personal map counter has reset as well. All my achievements still on record. My local game/world is OK. Why didn't I try a roll back to a save? Didn't know for sure it would bring back what I lost, and my wife was draining an ocean monument and had laid sand walls and sponged water all day. A lot of work to risk on a roll of the dice.

Oh, wow. I'm stunned. Logged in today, found 2 chests with all my lost stuff. Thank you!

@Johnathan
I am pleased that you were finally able to update and play without the fear of losing inventory 😃!

This also happened to me on the Realm I play on. Ender cheat & inventory empty as well as starting at spawn point. I play mostly on Xbox one, sometimes on PE. Just recently switched from ONE to ONE X. Everything was as it should be after switching til just recently.

So I'm kind of stuck at the moment. Now my game is effected by two bugs - this one and the turtle egg bug for 1.6.0.6 MCPE-35045
My game automatically went into beta even though I'm not currently enrolled like I was before Phase 2 was released. It was only when I left the beta, uninstalled and reinstalled, and tried to play 1.5 that my items were missing.
So with your recommendation not to uninstall the game I can't go back to the proper release were Sea Turtles lay eggs without the possibility of losing more items again.
The beta though has actually been saving my items since this whole thing began. I've been on multiple times and haven't lost a single thing.

So I took a gamble last night a did some testing. I went ahead and tried reverting my game back to non-beta release. Originally when I did this the day Phase Two (1.5) came out I lost all my items. With the new update (1.5.1.2) out as a first step to stop this from happening. I decided to uninstall and reinstall the game again to put me on that version and away from 1.6.0.6 that, for some reason, the game put itself in even though I had been unenrolled from the beta. So even on 1.5.1.2 I still lost all my items when I entered my world. I went further this time and tried putting items in the furnace, in item frames, and armor on stands... all gone. Just like the items in chests and inventory, same as before. After doing this I noticed that the beta was actually in 1.6.0.8, but I was still in 1.6.0.6 probably because I wasn't technically on the beta so it didn't update. Anyway, I enrolled into the beta program again and it downloaded the update to my game immediately. I then restarted my console (Xbox One) and tried playing Minecraft again without uninstalling and reinstalling like you're supposed to when you switch. It worked but it crashed here and there. I managed to gather a few items in my travels to check my chests and stuff again. Getting annoyed with the crashes I went ahead and uninstalled and reinstalled the game in hopes that it would fix the crashing, since that's what you're supposed to do anyway and I hadn't yet. I believe I even restarted the console again but when I entered my game I was surprised to find I was still carrying the few items I collected while in 1.6.0.8!
In the three times I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game since Phase Two was released this is the first time any items stayed on me and it was in the beta. Something in the beta may have fixed the issue or maybe at least part of it. I don't know how the others are doing but I was playing in 1.6.0.6 and had no issues losing items after saving and quitting. As I said before I feel I would have avoided this had I just stayed in the beta program during this whole Phase Two release. I could do more testing tonight.

Even after 1.53. PE update, my kids old inventory is gone. None of them were logged into microsoft or nintendo when it glitches them out. So either way, after the update, there stuff is still gone.

Update on this issue:
I was able to get my inventory back on my Survival World. For anyone else who updated to 1.5.3 and cannot seem to get their inventory back:
Make sure you are logged into the Microsoft account or Nintendo account tied to that player when you last saw the player with its previous inventory. Without this, your data cannot be recovered
Avoid uninstalling/reinstalling the game on the machine you last saw your old inventory on – this will destroy the cached data needed to recover your lost inventory. Merely updating the game should be fine
Log in to the same server, which has been upgraded to 1.5.3, from the same machine you last saw your old player/inventory on
Be in an area which allows for chests to safely spawn. If you aren’t, the game should inform you, and try again the next time you log in
Without the Microsoft account or Nintendo account and the same device with the original data, the data cannot be recovered.

Please do not report bugs or issues via a comment on a completely unrelated issue. That issue has already been reported and confirmed.

affects 1.9.0.0

Hello...Please fix this, most of players didn't noticed this but....i had problem with scafolding..i m using swap jump and sneak on setting because it more easier....but when the scafolding update...i cant use scafold in swap jump and sneak button..it on android and ios...it problem that unsolved yet..please i hope mojang fix the issue...

I don’t believe this is fixed. Everytime I sleep in a bed at a location it states in the upper left corner that my respawn point has been set but if I die I spawn back at my original area. This wouldn’t be a problem if I hadn’t just treked 4 hours to get to the new area in the realm I’m playing on. Is there a setting to fix this or is it still this bug? It’s happened twice now and I’m ready to uninstall Minecraft at this point and stop paying for my realm.
@unknown - I wasn't able to reproduce the issue you are describing, but if it is an issue that is happening on a Realm specifically, you might want to make a report under the Realms section of the bug tracker, or you could get in touch with Mojang Customer Support directly, who might be able to advise you further.
