Ever since update 1.5.0.1 i can no longer control the pets i already have. I have a house with a bunch of cats and dogs and the option for them to sit or stand is no longer there. But i am able to get new pets and i can make them sit and stand.

It sounds like the game isn't recognizing you as the same player who tamed the previous pets. It might possibly be an issue with switching between the release version and the beta. Do you recall whether you were on the beta when you tamed them? Also, is this a single player or multiplayer world? If you exit and restart Minecraft, does the issue go away?

2 out of the 3 worlds were made after i joined beta. I do play multiplayer. I am wondering if it is related to issue MCPE-32806 . There is a bug that prevented my friends from joining my old worlds without crashing and they ended up with my inventory, so we created a new word. Then when 1.5.0.1 came out they could join my worlds again. It has not been confirmed yet if the bug was fixed or not. But if it was an official bug fix it could be what is causing the issue. My friends did not have the inventory issue in our current world but maybe this affected it anyway?

MCPE-32806 is one of several issues related to the fact that Minecraft identifies a local player differently in single-player versus multiplayer worlds. MCPE-29863 was a very similar, serious issue that caused a lot of people to lose their player position and inventory. It was fixed a couple of months ago, but it may have been partly resurrected in the beta to cause this issue. Unfortunately, we don't have enough to go on yet, so we'll have to watch for similar reports until we start to see the pattern of symptoms emerging again. I would suggest watching this issue for updates, perhaps clicking the "Watch this issue" link above to get an email when an update occurs.

I have same issue today since 1.4.0 was out on minecraft live on xbox.
Tried on two worlds.
First one is mine created on version 1.11 or less and not create on beta. Dogs cats and parrot don t sit or go up anymore.
On second one created by friend on 1.2.3 not beta, cats don t want to up again for me and my friend who is host.
So it a new problem who affect all type of worlds and all pets.

Please clarify:There hasn't been a 1.11 release on Bedrock. What did you mean?1.2.3 was a stable release. Before now, this has only been reported on the beta release. Are you now seeing the problem when playing 1.4?
Never mind. It has now been reported to affect 1.4.0.

After the Aquatic update yesterday none of our players can control our pets anymore 😞

This is confirmed please see my post too MCPE-33430

I can confirm its happened to me.
Dogs, Cats and Parrots.. I right click on them and nothing 😞

Tamed Dogs, cats and birds will not stand or sit anymore after the Aqua update. Animals were tamed a long time ago, ones sitting are locked, ones standing seem to walk around all over and not follow the owner anymore. My opening screen on XBox One X has v1.4 on bottom right corner of screen. We play in survival mode.

Not only limited to Xbox but issue is also seen on Windows 10 Bedrock Edition

Also happened to me, a couple pets could still be controlled (most recently tamed parrots?). Affected parrots, dogs, and cats. Parrots will also not leave shoulder without submerging in water. (Windows 10 Bedrock Edition as well!)

This might be or not be related.
But the parrots dont do their happy dance when i play music, anymore 😞

This is also happening to me. All of my pets will eat, but they won't stand up

Windows 10 Bedrock Edition user here... Also confirming that I am experiencing the same issue of being unable to control pets.
They will eat but won't stand.

I haven't tried acquiring new pets, but all my pets (dogs) act as though they belong to another player. I can feed and put in love mode, but they will not follow. I have the Xbox one version and play on Xbox live.

sorry for duplicating i honsetly did not see that issue

I face the same issue with all my tamed pets *0 too. I,m using Minecraft PE on iOS. And issue occurred after updating to version 1.4. I play multi-player and pets of all players are affected.

I too am experiencing this problem. I have 8 dogs and I can not interact with them. I am playing on an Xbox One in the Play Together edition.

I can also confirm that this is happening in my worlds too. Though, in my case it occurs when I download a copy of my realm. Once I try to play the downloaded copy of the realm, my inventory is reset and I appear at the world spawn point. I also cannot interact with my pets. The odd thing is that re-uploading the realm doesn't fix the issue, but it does do something else. After uploading the realm again, I stay in the same place I was in while the world was downloaded and keep my offline inventory, but I don't regain the ability to interact with my pets.
It's like downloading the realm doesn't save the owner's data to the host on the downloaded copy, and so the owner's inventory/location/owner status gets reset. Then, when the realm is re-uploaded, the offline host session replaces the owner's data on the realm.
This only affects me as the owner of the realm. No other players on my realm have been affected by this. I do have the EX toggle enabled on the world from back when tridents first got added behind the toggle.
In an interesting side note, this also causes lost parrots to be able to perch on the player's shoulder, but the parrot will not dismount for any reason except that the player dies/sleeps or something similar. They will stay on the player's shoulder if they fall down a large distance.
EDIT: I use Minecraft for Windows 10 and Android. This has happened on both versions.

I've had the same problem on all bedrock versions. It makes it unplayable if you play with pets traveling. Actually I made a new world and the bug isn't there it's in older worlds with the beta. 1.15

It's happening to me in two different realms, my own survival hard realm, and my friend's creative realm, and I play Win 10 version on my laptop. I don't have pets in either of my two older worlds, so I don't know about them.

Have the same issue after updating to 1.4.1 in my Switch.

Updating versions doesn't seem to be the cause. I tamed wolves in survival on 1.4.2 then copied the world in the same version, I entered the copied world all my pets[parrots, cats and wolves] wont stand up when I right click on them.

Happens in all my worlds cats and tamed wolves from pre Aquatic update no longer stand up or follow after right click. Cats and wolves tamed after update work fine. Win 10 edition

I'm also experiencing this issue after the WIn10 edition aquatic update. I had at least 20 dogs and none of them will stand, they just remain seated. The one that I had actively following me prior to the update just runs around near my house and doesn't follow me. I've also gone and found and tamed new dogs only to have them disappear as soon as I touch water...

@Dave: They disappear? That stinks. My place is surrounded by rivers and lakes.
They should program them to say something when they can't follow you, something like, "I'm sorry, Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that."

I too am having this issue. What gives. Just to make sure. it is a survival world on my own pc not a realm. It has happened after the aquatic update and I dont relish the idea. of breeding and setting up 35 dogs and 20 cats. Cmon Mojang help us out.
Just so you know we're working on getting a fix for this so that you regain ownership of tamed animals. For any related issues please search and if necessary file a new bug report rather than mentioning them in the comments here, so they can be properly tracked and fixed accordingly.

Something very similar happens to me. I just tamed a wolf and it somehow keeps running away. The only way to get him back home is with a lead, but now I have no idea where he is.

I have this problem too, both in realms and running the world locally.
Examining the save and comparing it with previous backups, the UniqueID of the players has changed, but all the animals still have the old OwnerID, so they now belong to nobody.

Same issue for me in a Switch imported world. Sitting tamed pets cannot be commanded to follow.
Is this still an issue for anyone in 1.5.0.14?

@Mega_Spud Check with me in about a couple of weeks. it's been too hot to turn on my gaming computer.

@Mega_Spud - Yep, it's all the same like in Minecraft 1.4

Happening to me too and everyone else on my realm too. None of my parrots, dogs and cats are able to be commanded.

Thanks for keeping up with this issue Mega Spud. After the new update yesterday old Pets are still unresponsive and new Pets are still working correctly. I am a single player on an iPad- so no interaction with other systems etc, and have never used Beta mode. Pets will eat and enter love mode but will not stand or follow. They can be leashed but the leash will break when pulled.

Two .mcworld files to demonstrate the issue (they're too large to upload here):
File name/link | Saved date | Exported from version |
16 May 13:51 EST [UTC-5] | 1.2.16 | |
16 May 16:04 EST [UTC-5] | 1.4.0 |
Both files were exported from the same world, the first immediately before updating to 1.4.0 and the second after playing it in 1.4.0 for a couple of hours.
There are three tamed wolves in chunk (-144, -78) (X=-2300, Z=-1240). All three have the same OwnerNew in both exports; the value is -4294967295 (0xFFFFFFFF00000001). In the export from 1.2.16, the ~local_player's UniqueID also has this value. However, in the export from 1.4.0, the ~local_player's UniqueID was changed to -2160847720154547170 (0xE20320727A79BC1E) but the wolves' OwnerNew is unchanged. This suggests that the upgrade path from 1.2.16 to 1.4.0 changed the ~local_player UniqueID but did not update entity OwnerNew values to correspond.
There are also tamed horses/mules/donkeys owned by the same player in chunk (-145, -74) that have the same OwnerNew value in both exports. I presume llamas, ocelots, and parrots owned by the player would as well but I didn't own any of those.
In my case, I was able to fix the problem with an NBT editor by copying the updated ~local_player UniqueID to my pets' OwnerNew.

I have the same problem on my I paid mini . It happened after the most recent update I think. I can make way pet wolfs stand.

I'm having the same problem on my Nintendo switch since the aquatic update.

So am I so what do I do? Hope i dont have to lose 70+ Hours of hard work.

My Pet Cats,Dogs and Parrots are unresponsive so I had to name them all for safety. took so long to get 10+ Name tags in legitimate survival.

Beta 1.7.0.2 changelog: "If a pet forgets what player is their owner, it will sit down and wait for someone to interact with them & this player becomes the new owner of the pet. The pet doesn't need to be retamed with items (MCPE-33152)"
So at least for single player it resolves this issue (not sure why ownership was lost initially though) - this worked perfectly for me (checked with old parrot and dog).
For multiplayer, note that the owner may change depending on who interacts first with them but at least pets can be controlled again 🙂

I noticed a lot of "Issue Links" have been referenced and marked as resolved. Could you please add my MCCE-4714 that I started a year and a half ago to that list please. I had posted it about the animals becoming non-responsive to their owners and essentially becoming stuck, as they were told to be in their sit positions before the error occurred.
The ticket was for the Wii U, but we tried converting the world to Switch when Switch came out, and later converting it to Bedrock, but the issue was never fixed.
It will be nice when this rolls out - that world that I cited the issues with has been dead to us since that time, because our villages were overrun with non-responsive pets!

Still not resolved for me in my Bedrock realm. My two wolves still aren't responding.

This has been going on since May you would of thought it be will be fixed by now.
But hey at least now we got dolphins that "lead" you to treasure maps that don't actually have any treasure boxes no matter how big an area you dig.. but that's another issue.
I want to control my pets.. one has been sitting on my chest now for months refusing to get off because i can't control it and its my first cat i tamed i don't want to kill it.

Disappointed to not see this bug NOT listed as being fixed in the Beta 1.8.0.8 Changelog. Saw comment above by CompactVoid, perhaps this has been fixed in Beta 1.7.0.2? (also happy to see many bugs being fixed in betas - good work Mojang)
I hope this is fixed soon, especially with stray cats now spawning in villages (in above beta). This problem has been happening for so long. I've got dogs sitting sentinel all over my base and they are waay overdue for walkies now.

This issue is not resolved for Xbox One rev 1.6.1

@@unknown Please make sure you are on version 1.7.0 current stable release or higher. On the dashboard: My games & apps -> ( See all ->) Updates -> select Minecraft in the list of available updates -> press A. If you need further assistance with updating the game to the latest version, please contact Xbox support.

I have been having this issue since 1.12.0.13 (now it is 1.13.0.1, but still not fixed), but maybe it came back in one of the prior versions.

"resolved" Clearly not, this bug has been in bedrock edition for ages and still no fix. Fed up with this game

Unfortunately, this issue is not resolved. In my world (which was carried over from PS3->PS4->Bedrock) any tamed mobs do not respond to players (in singleplayer or local multiplayer.) They can not be fed or follow commands to sit/stand. This issue does not occur with new mobs and does not occur in the legacy version of my world. My guess is that this issue occurred sometime during after the introduction to bees.
Oh, and before it is asked, yes my version of minecraft is updated to the latest version. I have deleted, redownload, and loaded from backups many times and this issue still occurs.

For the current iteration of this bug please see MCPE-50467.
