MCPE-29863

When exiting a realm and entering a world, in the world I lose all my stuff and levels and restart at spawn.

(This is a repeat of the problem described in MCPE-29509, which was closed as resolved.)

When I exit either of the two realms I play in, no matter if I was only in them for a matter of seconds, and try to enter any one of my own five worlds, I start over in my world at spawn and with all my levels and inventory gone. My structures are all still fine; my world is otherwise unchanged.

Per Mega_Spud's instructions from last time, when I log out of the Xbox app and log back in, then try playing, I can enter my worlds and have all my stuff and levels back, and be at the point I'd left before respawning with nothing. But once I enter a realm, I have to log out of the Xbox app and log back in before I can switch over to one of my worlds.

I made a post on this before it was labeled as a duplicate. So this is my account of the same bug.

This happened to three of my survival worlds already. All of them are deleted now, by me, which was kinda painful, to be honest. The most recent corruption was the final straw, which has led me to type out this complaint.

Let's go to that last survival world I was doing. I had a small dwelling with a pen next to it that contained a horse. A desert village with a desert temple was nearby. I had explored anything nearby. I had just discovered an abandoned mineshaft in my strip mine. These may have caused my player to go corrupt, but that's really unlikely.

I exited the world one day, and I re-entered the world the next day. And to my horror, I was standing at the place where I originally spawned, with nothing in my inventory. I went to creative and searched around. Everything I placed down was still there, but everything in my inventory was lost. I went into my copy, and the same thing occurred.

And yes, I did go into creative mode to get my stuff back, but it felt like I cheated, even though it should've been perfectly acceptable to do so. At the end, I deleted both the original world and the save as well. I'm planning to make another survival world, this time, whenever I leave the world, I'm going to make a save, and keep those saves until this bug is fixed, (or if I fill up my device's storage.) And while I believe that is a good plan, I still shouldn't have to do this. I shouldn't have to worry about my player resetting or my inventory disappearing.

P.S. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a screenshot. You'll just have to take me by my word

It affect with server too

it happened to me also

I found out that the save file decreased by a few megabyte, it most likely corrupted or overwritted by the new save file

I previously made a report on a very similar issue, and it was marked as a duplicate of this one. So here’s my story.

I log out of my survival world with a bunch of stuff in my inventory, XP levels and armor on. When I went on a week later, I was not where I logged off, but rather at the world’s spawn point. Not only that, but everything I had when I logged off - inventory, XP, and armor - was all gone. I had absolutely nothing.

After reporting this issue, I avoided playing that world for another week, until my other survival world did the same thing. I freaked out and told my friend, who also plays Minecraft PE. He said the exact same thing had happened to him recently. This told me it was not just a problem with my account.

My friend also said that after restarting the app (double-tapping the home button and swiping up) and then starting up Minecraft and joining the affected world, all would be back to normal.

I was desperate to save all my diamond gear, so I did it. Went on to the affected world, restarted the app, went on again... and everything was back to normal! I was back to where I had been two weeks before, with all my stuff, armor, XP, and even location returned properly.

This issue has happened numerous times since then, and every time, by restarting the app, all is back to normal. I can’t say for sure if it is affected by multiplayer, but I can say that their’s a solution to this, at least for iPad users.

Thank you for letting me share this information,

Same with me:

One day I came in my survival world and started at the spawn point without inventory, armor and level but otherwise everything was the same. I saved the game (before the bug) in front of my house with full armor and full inventory. So I tried to get my old inventory without success. One day later I played again Minecraft and my old inventory was suddenly back but now my new inventory is gone. And now the game changes without pattern the two progresses.

P.S.: I could imagine that this error is related to a backup (I copied my world) that I created. Did you do the same?

If this happens you can quit Minecraft entirely and come back, all of your stuff will be restored.

Log out of Xbox App (or whatever you use to log in) and log back in and all your stuff and levels should be restored. Unless, perhaps, you've played too long with the levels and inventory missing and have overwritten the old save point somehow, I don't know. Whenever I've had this problem, I've always quit the game within a minute or so.

I just got an xbox one x and repurchased the game for the 5th time now (xbox 360 disc, xbox 360 digital copy, amazon frietv, PC & xbox one x). A $500 console that's thrives on being "the most powerful in the world" and theres this much issues getting an 8-BIT game working...utterly ridiculous

Issue: When you save & exit, then reload the game, all my stuff on my character is gone &/OR the save/load point is completely different.

Steps To Reproduce:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Enter a game
2. Save & Exit
3. Reenter the game
4. Freak out from all of your stuff missing and hours of work LOST!!!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have attached 4 screenshots...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. One of a character before with my stuff (one of the 5 times i lost all my stuff)
2. After I relaunched the game and all of my stuff is gone.
3. A screenshot of the game before loading with the game map/picture in the loading box/background
4. The actual point I was reloaded to (which you can actually see this spawn point in game the screen from screenshot #3 mentioned above)

A random side effect also seems to be spawning back to the original 0x0 spawn point 2 of the times.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Items Workaround: Put all your stuff into a chest before saving & exiting

Steps Taken To ATTEMPT Resolve: (To No Avail)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
-Sign out & back into xbox live
-delete game cache and resync
-delete game off xbox one x and reinstall
-delete gamer profile and redownload from scratch
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, ADD EXIT WITHOUT SAVING & MANUAL SAVING BACK!!!!! THIS FORCED REMOVAL IS WHY THESE ISSUES ARE HAPPENING! :|

*UPDATE: I just respawned and lost 28 levels because of this issue.....

It looks like this issue is happening across all platforms, so I am representing it only for Minecraft iOS edition.

I can confirm it occurs because of multiplayer - it happens on its own, too, but not as often, as it consistently happens every time you exit a multiplayer world and go on one of your single-player worlds. I also confirm that this only happens to Survival worlds - never to worlds set to creative.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Make sure you have the Pocket Edition of Minecraft on an iOS device.
2. Join a multiplayer world, either by LAN, on a friend’s world through Xbox live, or on an external server. I have not tested this on Realms but I have tested it on the above mentioned ways of going on multiplayer.
3. Leave the multiplayer world/server, and then go on to one of your single-player worlds. Freak out when you find yourself at the world spawn, with nothing on you!

Steps to fix:
1. Join the affected single-player world. You should have nothing in your inventory, no armour, XP, etc. This is what the bug leaves you with. (If you just left the multiplayer world and joined this one, this step will already be done.)
2. Restart the Minecraft app. This is done by double-tapping the home button and swiping up on “Minecraft”.
3. Enter Minecraft again. Join the single-player world you were just on a moment ago. Be amazed as everything you had before this bug affected your world - XP levels, armour, inventory contents - have been returned to you! Hooray!

Please note:
Once you use the fix I mentioned above, ALL worlds affected by this bug will be restored. This means that any progress you made after it happened WILL be erased. But, you will have all your items restored from BEFORE the bug took place. Trust me, it works!

Again, I don’t know about other versions. These steps to reproduce and fix this bug have been thouroughly tested and confirmed by me, but only on the iOS version, which is the only version I have.

Thank you for reading this. It took me a long time to test and confirm all this, so I hope it helps.

Best of luck to all in getting their stuff back and/or fixing this issue,
Munchy

I have a theory that can explain what's happening.

A world saves each player's position, armor, inventory, etc. separately. I will call this set of player data a "profile" hereafter. In a multiplayer world, multiple profiles are saved, one for each player who has ever joined it. Each time a new player joins, a new profile is created for him placing him near the spawn point with no armor or inventory. A singleplayer world only needs to save one profile, for the player who created it.

Consider how the game finds your correct profile when you open or join a world. It can't be identified by your gamertag, because you could change it and then it wouldn't find you. In a multiplayer world, you're always online so your profile can be uniquely identified by your Xbox Live token, which is unique and unchanging for any XBL account. But you can play a singleplayer world without being online, so no XBL token may be available. In singleplayer world, then, your profile must be saved under a different identifier, probably something like your Store account ID, or maybe it's just saved in a profile reserved for singleplayer mode, since you will only ever be one and the same player in that mode.

This implies that if you switch a world from singleplayer to multiplayer, or vice versa, you will have two profiles saved under different identifiers. I expect that when you change the single/multiplayer setting, the game automatically copies your player data to the new profile from the existing one so that you don't lose your state. In this way, the two profiles are kept in sync.

Nevertheless, there can still be two profiles for the same player, so if they ever got out of sync they could save you in a different position with different armor and inventory, depending on which profile you're using, which depends on how you got into the world. It might also depend on whether you're actually online, or whether the game is currently set to single versus multiplayer.

By this theory, the problem might be that when you leave a multiplayer world, the game sometimes forgets to switch back to your singleplayer identity. Then, when you open an existing singleplayer world, it can't find a profile saved for your XBL identity (which you were previously using) so it assumes you're a new player to this world and creates one, with you at spawn and no armor or inventory. Your old profile, saved under your singleplayer identity, still exists but you aren't using it.

The problem can then be reset by exiting and restarting Minecraft. That will make the game use your singleplayer identity again, so you get all your stuff back. But if you ever play a multiplayer world and then open your singleplayer world again, your profiles could once again start to diverge and you might start to see yourself switching between them. It's like you have a clone with the same gamertag, and which one you are during a given play session depends on whether you hit the bug that made the game forget to switch back to your singleplayer clone.

This theory may not be correct in every detail, but I'll bet it's correct in a general way, and.it predicts one consequence that might be helpful as a workaround for people experiencing this problem. Namely:

Possible workaround, if the theory is correct:
You should be able to re-sync your profiles. First, restart the game if you've been playing multiplayer. Then, switch the world from single- to multiplayer, and open it. You should find yourself in your singleplayer profile's position, and both profiles should be re-synced. You can then save and quit, and switch it back to singleplayer

Bear in mind that whatever position and stuff you had in the multiplayer profile will be overwritten and permanently lost when you do this; I don't see any way to avoid that.

If you try this workaround and it works for you, remember in the future that you should exit Minecraft between closing a multiplayer world and opening a singleplayer world. Also, comment here to tell others it helps and to tell Mojang that the theory may provide a clue to fixing this bug.

This has been fixed, for me at least, with the latest update. I can switch freely between realms and worlds with no loss of gear and levels.

This just happened to me in 1.19.63 on bedrock on the box. Can we either reopen this or make a new item? I am not sure if maybe now there is a stopgap to help this. A way to restore it.
