A savegame from about a week earlier had me getting the freeze after using the same portal to go back to the overworld. After closing & reopening Minecraft I appeared about 10 or 15 blocks from the overworld portal outside the "house" built around it. But that freeze disappeared a few days later only to be replaced by the freeze problem of re-entering the nether.

@Auldrick. I am running the world on my stand alone PC & I allow 3 other players on the same LAN to play. All my comments so far are when I was the only one playing. The last time all 4 household members were on the world I was not getting the loading problem so I do not know if they have the same problem or not.

@Auldrick

First I verified that loading the world and following my instructions (go to overworld then back to nether) cause the lockup. It does.

Then, while the 2nd use of the portal produced the "Building terrain lockup" freeze, I minimized the window then restored it and for me Minecraft remained frozen. Neither a ALT+TAB nor a minimise window avoided Minecraft being frozen until I closed then re-opened the game.

Is this of any help? If I've missed any aspect of your question, let me know. 🙂

I have the bug on PC V1.14.30. 100% repeatable on an exported world, use the following link.
https://we.tl/t-2vR8DU0fY3
1 - Load the world & you will end up in the Nether. 2 - Use the portal to reach the overworld (this bit works). 3 - turn around & use the portal to re-enter the Nether and the game freezes at "Building Terrain".
Hope this helps get it fixed.
If the link gets deleted, post back as I'm watching this bug & will re-upload.
