Yep, that did it. Even after I bonemealed the vine to get some berries back, the spawner works fine. It was just that little bit too close before. Thanks!

Okay, I just noticed something weird. I went inside the spawning chamber and closed the (spruce) door behind me, and noticed that the light level doesn't change with the door closed. It's acting like the door is transparent with regard to light transmission.

When I broke the door and replaced it with dirt blocks, the light level dropped and they began spawning again.

I'm mystified by this, because I've always built xp farms this way, leaving a door for access.

If I leave the door and move the light source further away from the door, they do spawn normally.

So... I think it was just a lighting issue. But I could have sworn a spruce door would block that light.

I think the only thing that changed (that caused it to break) was that I was using glow vines for light, and the one closest to the door grew and spawned a new berry.

Thanks for responding so quickly.

  1. Windows 10 PC

  2. Created last weekend, July 1st or 2nd? v1.19.2

  3. First discovered the spawner on 7/4 or 7/5.

  4. Just finished the xp farm on 7/6

  5. It happens every time I load the world. Since I noticed the issue yesterday afternoon (7/7) the spawner has not worked at all, no matter how many times I've restarted MC or changed difficulty settings.

  6. This is a stock bedrock game. The only Resource/Behavior packs are Minecraft Textures (Global) and the Default behavior pack, which afaik can't be turned off.

  7. I have checked all the conditions. Like I said before, it WAS working under exactly the same set of conditions previously.

I think this is the right issue. I'm playing Bedrock 1.19.2, and a zombie spawner I found just... quit spawning anything. This is a local game, not Realms or anything. All stock, nothing special (no experimental). I built an xp farm around it and used that successfully for a few hours, and when I got back on today it just wouldn't spawn any zombies.

Tried leaving the area and returning, restarting minecraft, fiddling with the difficulty levels, nothing.

@GoldenHelmet: so if you can plant kelp at the bottom, it converts falling water into source blocks as it grows, then? That'd be cool. Way better than having to make your column 2 blocks wide and pillar up alongside it as you build it one bucket at a time, lol.

No dice. The new overworld portal completely failed to generate a corresponding nether portal, even though the terrain in the nether was suitable and it was over 100 blocks away in the nether. It just synced to the nearest existing portal in the nether.

7/6 - Okay, I tried building a 10 x 10 platform, at the right altitude, and then built a portal on the corresponding coordinates in the overworld... no dice. It still kicks me back to the original nether location.

Found the Northern edge of that lava lake though, so I'm going to try one other thing (build an overworld portal that corresponds to a naturally-generated nether location rather than a platform) before I just give up and assume I'll have to build on both sides/link them manually until this bug gets fixed.

Realized this update probably belongs in a comment, not the original request.

Update 7/5/2020: I was finally able to find an island in the basalt delta to reach the surface.

From there, I bridged out of the lava lake,

and made a couple of nether portals, which DID generate in the overworld.

  • The first one was at a random location (35, 53, 158) I thought might be close to a village I'd located in the overworld. It spawned above the ocean ~50 blocks from land, on a netherrack platform at elevation 70, which I've never encountered before. The x and z values correspond well to the overworld, but I have no idea why it spawned so far above sea level.

  • The second one, I specifically matched to the overworld location (x/8, y, z/8) of a portal I built in the aforementioned village (which had previously failed to generate a new nether portal). It synced correctly to the overworld portal. I had to bridge ~20 blocks out over the lava sea (at y=66) and create a platform and walls to safely build the portal.

So, it appears portals will successfully sync, IF you build a portal in the nether that matches an existing location in the overworld. There still seems to be an issue with with overworld portals generating an appropriate counterpart in the nether, but I'm starting to think that's because my starting location was over a massive lava lake and basalt delta, and the game couldn't find any other valid locations to spawn the portals.

Next steps: Going to try building a portal in the overworld that corresponds with a known valid location in the nether.

Having this same issue. No matter how far I go in the overworld before creating a new portal, it will only take me to the original portal in the nether. Which sucks in my current game, because apparently the only place it could find to spawn was in a cave UNDER A LAVA LAKE.

Maybe the problem is the way the game determines what constitutes a water source block. I'm pretty sure it used to be that if you dug directly below a 1x1 source block, the block below it became a source, too.

Thank you. I was looking for Minecraft Bedrock but didn't see it in the initial feedback menu. I have resubmitted under the correct project.

Can probably mark this as resolved. Looks like they now have normal-probability drops, since the 1.13.0 update.

I just got the 1.13.0 update for Bedrock today, and the stack of stone I had in the furnace quit smelting mid-stack. I can no longer smelt that stone.

Armor and weapon drops are still not happening without enchanted weapons. Any word on when this might be fixed, @@unknown?

I used up all the rest of that looting 1 sword and had no other item drops whatsoever. Something is clearly broken with the probability mechanic. I haven't gotten any weapon/armor drops from skeletons I've killed elsewhere, either.

Could be. I got a Looting 1 sword and used up about 3/4 of its health before a single item dropped.
