Just dawned on me that you might also want the Nov 5 backup (before the upgrade and when the chests were fine).

FYI: this is Local Play.

 

I just went through my backups and figured out when this happened.

 

On Nov 6. 2023 I manually updated Minecraft in the MS Store APP from 1.20.32 to 1.20.41 . I had previously stopped auto updates because of recent updates making play more difficult (not more fun): curing - and I want to control when those types of changes take affect (sorry for the Wine).

 

My backup from Nov. 5, 2023 does not have these chests split. My backup from Nov. 6, 2023 DOES!

 

I backup almost everyday or after a decent accomplishment. I backup by:

  • "fully" closing the program

  • copying the World Folder to a dated folder well outside the Packages folder. I.E. To: %userProfile%\Documents\Backup\Minecraft\Worlds\yyyy-mm-dd-iterationNumber

 

Restore is basically the reverse:

  • Fully close the program

  • Delete the Live folder

  • copy the backup folder to the Live location
