Not sure when this happened.
Just noticed 3 stacked double chests in my base separated into single chests.
Contents are there.
Contents are still in the order they should be.
I am able to remove and add items
Thanks!

If this is on a server, it could've been caused by the server updating to this version. And likewise with the world. If you had to transfer or export a world, then it could have also caused this. I know you said you didn't know when it happened. But can you try to give more context? Thanks 🙂

FYI: this is Local Play.

I just went through my backups and figured out when this happened.
Â
On Nov 6. 2023 I manually updated Minecraft in the MS Store APP from 1.20.32 to 1.20.41 . I had previously stopped auto updates because of recent updates making play more difficult (not more fun): curing - and I want to control when those types of changes take affect (sorry for the Wine).
Â
My backup from Nov. 5, 2023 does not have these chests split. My backup from Nov. 6, 2023 DOES!
Â
I backup almost everyday or after a decent accomplishment. I backup by:
"fully" closing the program
copying the World Folder to a dated folder well outside the Packages folder. I.E. To: %userProfile%\Documents\Backup\Minecraft\Worlds\yyyy-mm-dd-iterationNumber
Â
Restore is basically the reverse:
Fully close the program
Delete the Live folder
copy the backup folder to the Live location
Â
Thanks

Just dawned on me that you might also want the Nov 5 backup (before the upgrade and when the chests were fine).

For info: I use the same backup technique, except that instead of copying the world folder I use the Export button at the bottom of the world settings. It's easier, faster, and gives you the same thing except it saves to an .mcworld file, which you can then import with the button to the right of the Create New button at the top of the world list.
If you need access to the files inside, that's easy too: Just change the file extension from .mcworld to .zip and it becomes a compressed folder in Windows 10 or later. (You will need to turn off File Explorer's "Hide extensions for known file types" toggle before you can do this.)
