I am also experiencing chunk rendering issues in 14w21b.

After looking at some of the above comments I tried turning Advanced OpenGL off, and the issue stops!

System Specs: Ubuntu Linux (64bit) Java version "1.7.0_55" OpenJDK Runtime Environment

Turning off Advanced OpenGL is a temporary fix for this bug! (For me at least)

My Minecraft 14w18a crashes when logging into a world with item frames or when an item frame is placed as well. (Submitted crash report to Mojang through the launcher)

Thanks for the information! I was able to get minecraft to run by updating the LWJGL files to a nightly build (2.9.0).
