I don't want to open another bug in here, but I just had the same issue after trying to update the launcher to the newest launcher. Same exact issue occurs with the 59.90MB, then the updater stalls. I checked the nativeUpdateLog.txt, which is similar to the other bugs I'm seeing here:

Now I can't even run Minecraft. I tried, uninstalling minecraft, turning off the firewall/antivirus, restarting my mac, and updating java to the newest, and I still get the error. I can't tell if it's the log is saying that the native launcher needs to update to use the newest java or vice versa.
I can't see the .jar files. After I move the minecraft install file to the Applications folder it seems to install minecraft but then tries to run the downloader for the native launcher and then times out at the 50 MB. Would it be better to just install older java and then install the minecraft files?
