Stacey, unfortunately there currently is no possible way to rollback an app update unless you have a "jailbroken" iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch. Stay patient, we all know how frustrating this process can be and it affects us all. But Mojang will make it right and get the update out to us ASAP.
Mojang's team is hard at work to fix most of the critical bugs with this update, they are aware of the widespread issues not only with this major bug but some other ones as well. Keep posted throughout the day on the wiki for updates. 0.6.1 coming soon! Hopefully...

Ezekiel I'm just putting confirmed tests out there for people to see. Trying to help out. I know Mojang is got there hands full with this new update. Especially with a bug this bad.

I decided to start a new world completely and see if maybe our original world had conflicting issues with the update to 0.6.0 and same thing happened, I mined a few blocks of sand and placed a few blocks of dirt, logged out to the main screen and logged back in right away and everything was gone like nothing ever happened. I know Mojang is aware of this HUGE bug and will do what is needed to resolve it ASAP. Otherwise there will be plenty of angry miners lol, I only lost a small farm, but now am afraid to play due to not knowing if my progress will or won't be saved.
I second this bug, I have updated to 0.6.0 and have noticed my work and materials disappearing. I created a 50 block wheat farm laid out all the seeds for the wheat logged out to the main screen came back literally 2 minutes later to check something and all my work had been undone and all the seeds I laid down disappeared... Also the gates to get into the seed farm were all open as was my house door. Please update soon I don't want to invest an hour of crafting to find my stuff erased and my efforts gone to waste. Temporary Fix: (NOT GUARANTEED TO WORK!)
I have played around with the workaround on the iOS devices and Paul is correct. I managed to get 19/20 Trials to PASS on using this method!

Temporary Workaround for Saving World (NOT 100%)
Graphics Settings: All
iOS: 6.1
MCPE: 0.6.0

Step 1) Close Minecraft
<double tap home button find minecraft press app till it wiggles to kill app>
Step 2) Load and play minecraft as you would normally
Step 3) **VERY IMPORTANT STEPS**
When done playing or need to pause, "Quit to title"
Step 4) Press the home button to get out of app and immediately repeat STEP 1

As I said I was able to confirm this test and get a 90% success rate, I do not know how long you can be in the game for this to work as my tests lasted less than 1 minute each. I would recommend although annoying repeat these steps in 15-20 min intervals slowly extending the in game time as you progress. Wouldn't want someone to invest in an hour of digging to find out it didn't save. Mojang team is hard at work and the developers are doing everything they can to get the fix submitted to Apple for review. We know they will deliver, keep your heads high and keep mining! 😉
