I was playing in one of my worlds till my inventory got full so i placed down two chests and put all jy items in it then went to my mob trap . On my way i saw a sheep and i save and quit to title and went to the appstore to check if u added dye-able sheeps when i saw u did not i went back to my world and continue getting mob drops but when i went into my house the two chests i placed are gone with all my iron and all the little diamonds i have found mostly all my stuff pls fix this bug
Moderator Edit:
When you close a world, all changes appear to not be saved. Meaning anything you break or place in that world is reverted. This applies to all blocks, in both gamemodes. It appears that low graphics settings in Options will fix this issue.
Moderator Edit 2:
With the 0.9 updates, you are not able to save worlds that were created in older builds.

Yes its true.the bug is true it realy needs to be fixed

Yeah, this happened to me, iOS 6.2, iPhone 5. I flattened off an area, made the nether reactor. I shut the game off, and then came back. The area isn't flat anymore and the tower of netherrack is gone. But the pieces of netherrack are still in my chests.
I tried it again on a creative world, but I made a sandstone house this time. I exited, rebooted, and everything, and the sandstone house is still there this time. Maybe it only affects survival?

Some troubleshooting information that might help with resolution of the issue. I was having the same issue of the World changes not saving. I have been able to successfully have my "world changes" (i.e. digging and builds) saved after exiting to title screen. Running iOS 6.1 (10B141) on iPad 2.
I uninstalled and then re-installed Minecraft PE.
Created a new world.
Built and dug.
Exited to title screen.
Re-launch game/world.
Changes were still there.
Repeated a few times still having success with changes being saved.
Then I exited back to the title. Went into options. Changed to "Peaceful Mode" ON.
Re-launch game/world. Still saw changes from last "play."
Built and dug.
Exited to title screen.
Re-launch game. Changes not saved.
Re-did the entire uninstall-re-install scenario and once again had success with saves.
Maybe this information will help locate the bug.

Same issue. Rebooted iPhone after updating MCPE, made some minor test changes and they saved. Played for a longer session, died, all changes that happened after the test-changes reverted. Pretty much unplayable at this point, no faith that any changes will maintain between session so what's the point?

@Mike
I did the same exact same thing.
Later, working on my roof (for the third time) I saw that all my signs and trees were gone. So I put down my blocks, and jumped to my death.

There is an opportunity for profit here. Since the world resets but not your inventory, you can endlessly mine a small patch of resources.

The world will save only if you turn off fancy graphics (no clouds)

I did turn off fancy graphics though. Hm.

It only seems to be happening Ipads cause my IPhone.

I ment My IPad doesnt save and My iPhone saves.

Confirmed that low graphics settings fixes this.

iPhone 5 6.1
Minecraft PE 0.6.0
High Quality Graphics: Fail
Standard Graphics: Fail
Lower Quality Graphics: Fail
*Test involved a brand new world, removing 1 sand block, 1 dirt block. Placing 1 dirt block, exiting to main screen. Logging back into world, 1 Sand block still in inventory, blocks removed and placed never happened.

My new tower is gone. Better fix this soon.

Robert, I realized it isn't confirmed, because although it worked initially, not all the time.

Ezekiel I'm just putting confirmed tests out there for people to see. Trying to help out. I know Mojang is got there hands full with this new update. Especially with a bug this bad.
iPad 3 6.0.1
Minecraft PE 0.6.0

Standard Graphics: Fail
Lower Quality Graphics: Fail
*Test involved a brand new world, removing 1 sand block, 1 dirt block. Placing 1 dirt block, exiting to main screen. Logging back into world, 1 Sand block still in inventory, blocks removed and placed never happened.

Ipad Mini, iOS 6, Minecraft PE 0.6.0
my worlds don't save when I exit the game. But it seems that it only happens on some devices. Please make another 0.6.0 update that fixes this critical problem and also fixes other ridiculous bugs.
Time to save the world and MCPE.
Please read Mojang!

This is happening to me to I reported this bug to mojang as well it needs to be fixed in a close update because we can't wait long for this or again we can't play

I see the moderator said switching the graphics setting resolves the issue....this is not correct, it resolves nothing at all.

I know, it did initially, my mistake.

Can't you undo the update and go back to the last one so that we can at least play until you get this sorted?

Mojang's team is hard at work to fix most of the critical bugs with this update, they are aware of the widespread issues not only with this major bug but some other ones as well. Keep posted throughout the day on the wiki for updates. 0.6.1 coming soon! Hopefully...
Info found @:

my friend said he had the same problem on iphone 4 ios 6.0.1

Stacey, unfortunately there currently is no possible way to rollback an app update unless you have a "jailbroken" iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch. Stay patient, we all know how frustrating this process can be and it affects us all. But Mojang will make it right and get the update out to us ASAP.

I understand if its not easy. I am not technical in that sense. I am happy to wait. Just missing playing as it my son, he likes to get the 'piders ๐

This is such a disappointment since now I can't play the game on my iPhone. Luckily I didn't upgrade my Android device.

It would be great if the Android users with this issue could do an update to 0.6.1, and report back here.
In the mean-time (for both iOS and Android users); I suspect it's good to restart the application completely between "plays". 0.6.0 had a very unfortunate bug, making anything go haywire after two plays (that is, when you enter a game for the third time).
If you have 0.6.1, be sure to enter/exit the worlds a few times before deeming it to work (not work is faster ๐ ).

Does it usually take this long to fix such a major bug? You would think they would at least post a response or an update on progress...

@Linda Beres: See one comment above yours.

That being said, this bug didn't reproduce on my device (and I haven't marked it as "resolved" yet). I did however fix a (at first seemingly unrelated) bug, that miiiight cause this. I would say it's 50/50. If 0.6.1 doesn't fix it, I will gladly look at it first thing tomorrow, after I get some hours sleep.

Is 0.6.1 out???

I'm having the same problem. PLEASE RESOLVE SOON

To reproduce every time on iPhone 5, with freshly updated iOS 6.1
1 No other apps running
2 Launch mcpe
3 create world named bugtest with seed bugtest
4 survival mode peaceful
5 do not step forward ๐, turn around
6 break some blocks, place some blocks
7 pause
8 quit to title
9 home key
10 double click home key
11 select mcpe
12 start game
13 select bugtest
14 repeat steps 7 to 13 four or five times at least
15 place some blocks, break some blocks retaining some in inventory
16 repeat steps 7 to 13
17 observe that the most recent placed
and broken blocks are gone
Once you get into this state none
Of your changes will EVER save until
you double click home, press and
hold mcpe, click on the minus
to kill the app and then relaunch
it.
A (very tedious) workaround is
to quit to title, kill the app,
and relaunch whenever you pause.
Never try to reload app from
Background.
I hope mojang will take this
Bug very seriously, since it
is a "loss of user data" bug.
That should be right up there
behind "personal injury" and
"Security exploit". Indeed
since this smells like an
"uninitialized data" big, it
has some risk of potential
security exploit.

Temporary Fix: (NOT GUARANTEED TO WORK!)
I have played around with the workaround on the iOS devices and Paul is correct. I managed to get 19/20 Trials to PASS on using this method!
************************************************************************************
Temporary Workaround for Saving World (NOT 100%)
Graphics Settings: All
iOS: 6.1
MCPE: 0.6.0
************************************************************************************
Step 1) Close Minecraft
<double tap home button find minecraft press app till it wiggles to kill app>
Step 2) Load and play minecraft as you would normally
Step 3) **VERY IMPORTANT STEPS**
When done playing or need to pause, "Quit to title"
Step 4) Press the home button to get out of app and immediately repeat STEP 1
************************************************************************************
As I said I was able to confirm this test and get a 90% success rate, I do not know how long you can be in the game for this to work as my tests lasted less than 1 minute each. I would recommend although annoying repeat these steps in 15-20 min intervals slowly extending the in game time as you progress. Wouldn't want someone to invest in an hour of digging to find out it didn't save. Mojang team is hard at work and the developers are doing everything they can to get the fix submitted to Apple for review. We know they will deliver, keep your heads high and keep mining! ๐

Is 0.6.1 out? Aron said something about having 0.6.1 but I cannot find the update in the App Store.
Please reply Mojang!

@Sechan The update is out for android, but apple is a bit slow with their verification of the apps, so it may take a few days to a few weeks to release.

Ok. Does anyone know what date 0.6.1 will be out?

Currently it is not too easy to know the exact date as it heavily depends on apple.

I see

Is 0.6.1 only bug fixes?

Yes.

Thanks

For everyone interested in this. Paul Drews / Robert Bondar have already been onto it, but the bug starts doing its illdoings AFTER first play (e.g. when you go out to Start screen from inside the game).
This means, if you restart (i.e. closing the app completely before restarting) the application between each play your changes should be safe. With 'play' I mean a full session, before going out to start screen.
I can't guarantee this, but it seems to apply to iOS 6 only (I've tried on 4 devices where two had iOS 6.x and the other two 5.x or 4.x).
So, TL;DR: Until 0.6.1 has passed review; please CLOSE and restart the game between plays, and you should be able to play multiplayer + have your world changes saved.

This does not work!

It sometimes does not work for me and I have ios 6 Aron.

Why has the status changed from open to resolved? If we cannot play with out all those extra steps(which did not work for me or some others I see), then the status should still be open right?

@Linda Resolved means it has been dealt with, and the Fixed sub-status means that it is fixed for the version specified in the Fix Version/s status, currently 0.6.1 is released for android, but the apple device users are still waiting for apple to verify the application before they allow it on the App Store, so it is going to take anywhere between a few days to a few weeks for an update to become available for iOS users.

A few days to a few weeks! That is ridiculous. No offense to you personally, but as one of the more costly apps, that is very disappointing to hear. I lost all my items I had built with, including many diamond and gold blocks, the day I updated, and now this....I would hope some extra stuff will be included it the fix for us lowly ipad users...smh

Most people don't know how to quit an app on iOS.
Quit to the home page
Double click your home button
click and hold the Minecraft app
press the red circle with a line through it.

I know how, did it. Worked the first time, but after that, nope.

I know mojang is working hard but a few days to a few weeks for an update sound pretty ridiculous.
Keep working hard mojang!

Reopened.
There still seem to be inventory duplication/ item deletion issues when closing the app.

please please please fix this in 0.7.0

Still affecting 0.7.3 because you can duplicate blocks and items from the chests

Just adding that this doesn't seem to be occurring for me.

Wow, is this fixed in 0.7.4? The wiki seems to say it is, I wasn't able to verify (I never got it)!

I will confirm this issue is NOT fixed with PC version 1.6.2, as of this date. Recognizing this isn't a discussion forum, I'll simply say that I'm frankly amazed that it has persisted so long and through so many updates. I hope you increase your efforts at problem resolution as this particular bug strikes right at the heart of playability and enjoyment of what is otherwise a fantastic game.

This is a bug about MC Pocket Edition....

This is a Duplicate of MCPE-43

Cleaning up all the old issues - please reply if this affects 0.9.3.

I deleted some worlds we didn't play in anymore to clear up some memory and that fixed the problem for us. I hope this will help if you are still having this problem.

This just happened to me! And now my world won't save anything that I do, even when I just move to another location! Its like I am not even there, like I don't exist. Is there a fix for this, other than deleting old worlds that I don't have?
happened to me. ios 6.1 iphone 4s. i made a world, worked on it, saved, came back, i was tunneling and i left the app and reopened it and i spawned on the surface, not even above the tunnel, and my ENTIRE changes from the the second time i opened the world was gone so my shaft was gone, yet my inventory saved. from now on everytime i leave the world, blocks revert back to the previous state but my inventory doesnt change, this is a serious game breaker as i can simply leave the game and redig up diamonds which keep reappearing!
