This problem has been happening to me as well in snapshot 19w02a. I'm playing on a save I had previously been playing on before installing the snapshot, so I'm not sure if that fact alone is contributing to the issue.
Essentially, the exact same thing as you described is occurring. When I try to sleep, I get stuck in the transition screen with text chat and "Leave Bed" as my only interactable options on the screen. Clicking "Leave Bed" does nothing. The day/night cycle continues uninterrupted. The only way I've found to escape this softlock is to force quit the game.
