I have been able to replicate this bug. It appears when an external dedicated server is added to the server list by the player. When reopening Minecraft, the server appears in the friends list under the LAN category. I should also mention that the dedicated server is not hosted on the same network as the device used to access the server, and no VPN is used.

Personally, vsync is the largest issue for me. I have fiddled with vsync in previous versions of the game and the extra input lag, frame rate, and lack of screen tearing correspond to vsync being on. I have turned off vsync in both the option.txt and nvidia control panel but neither has any affect on the game.
