This used to happen back when 1.16 was first released but it has been patched since then. I have dropped multiple netherite items in lava (in 1.17.1) and havent had them burn.

I have the issue, but also the first cape doesnt even show up as an option for me, does anybody have a fix for that?

Yeah I have the same issue but in my case it doesnt even show me my founders cape, which is concerning because I only have it equipped on one skin and I really do not want to lose it.
