The maximum save file size has been limited to 2GB by Mojang. When you reach the limit through world size or dlc you start receiving warnings that the game is out of space. It is unaffected by system storage.

I believe you may be on to something. I have reduced my save from 1.8GB to 1.5GB by deleting marketplace content and disabled automatic backup. I do occasionally have crashes and lag happen during auto saves. I have a Nintendo Sub but not realms.

I have multiple switches with multiple profiles on each. I've observed this same issue with only a few of those profiles. Startup time is unaffected by console, only profile game save. A new game on new profile will load normally.

My son likes to download everything he can from the marketplace and basically starts a new game every time he plays. I just have to delete his save file every so often, when it gets stuck on a load screen, so he can play again.

My own profile is slow to load, but remains playable. I limit what I add to my game and limit myself to 2 worlds. I've only had to delete my save once.

I experiment with other profiles to avoid corruption of my longest running game. I have found if I delete worlds within game, I can improve startup time for that profile. Marketplace downloads also negatively affect startup time, but I have not seen how to remove them besides deleting the profile save file.

It appears the save file limit for each profile is 2.0 GB. It seems as a profile reaches the limit, startup becomes longer.

Reducing profile save file size, appears to reduce startup load time.
