Basically if you place down a chest and try to look at someone's nametag through it, it's not visible at all. This is useful for creating hidden rooms and stuff but is probably an exploit/bug. I doubt it's intentional. Works in 1.8.1, 1.8 and almost definitely 1.7 versions too. I'll force a crash now.
