Player Names aren't visible through chests or trapped chests at all on multiplayer servers. Doesn't apply to singleplayer. Basically if you place down a chest and try to look at someone's nametag through it, it's not visible at all. This is useful for creating hidden rooms and stuff but is probably an exploit/bug. I doubt it's intentional. Works in 1.8.1, 1.8 and almost definitely 1.7 versions too.

Please update affected version(s) to include latest stable/preview/test release if still present. And not really related to MC-3336 IMO.

It's related in that it's caused by the way those blocks render, which is different from other blocks. Both bugs stem from the same root cause.

I'll force a crash now.

It's not limited to player names. Named mobs' names' aren't also displayed through chest. Also, confirmed for 1.8.2-pre6.

Dupe of MC-28558
