this started happening to me a few days ago with boats. 

I play in split screen as the second player.  When i dismount a boat as the second player it usually disappears.   The first player can however still see the boat that the second player cannot see.  The first player doe not have this issue.  This is on a PS4

i would like to add that this happens to us with the default/base settings.  No resource packs have been loaded by the user (me) ever.

so yes it turns out that the shield is displayed in the wrong place in the first person view while this is happening. The attached is showing the same player, on the left from player one's first person view and on the right from player 2's 3rd person view.
