I would also add to this that in testing it on an iMac, 1.18.2 runs okay. So the issue for sure is with whatever it seems to want to 'download' in terms of a runtime environment. Unfortunately there's no clear and jargon-free way to do this. So, Vibestock, hoping you can respond to the above and show us the way 🙂

SOLVED
Following Vibestock's advice. I don't know how to mark this bug as solved but the solution is in the screenshot I attached to the issue; simply go to settings, and disable the bottom option.
