I now have access to an ipad. Can I have your instructions as to how to do this file transfer from Apple TV to the ipad? Which 3rd party software, which access codes to Apple TV (if any), should I set up some kind of file sharing options, etc. Please respond so that followers of MCPE-19383 can see your instructions, or to my personal e-mail [email protected]
ADD TO THE MENU SCREEN OF "MINECRAFT APPLE TV" A WAY TO EXPORT WORLDS TO A BACKUP DEVICE OR SAVE DUPLICATES ON THE APPLE TV BOX ITSELF.
Same issue.
Thank you.
Saddly I do not have a Mac(only an iphone if it can be used for this purpose). This is precisely the problem you see. If we had this access, we could copy/backup our worlds regularly and recall an earlier stage of our progress, without losing everything. I keep posting the suggestion of making such backups available from within the Apple TV version of Minecraft, to all Minecraft forums available to me, including this one, but no-one is listening (see MCPE-23253). This should keep us happy while the problem is sorted. Apple TV is unique in that it does not provide access to its file system either through its operating system or through ATV apps and you need to take this into account in the Minecraft version for ATV.
My kids have almost given up by now. However, we did notice recently during one of our infrequent Minecraft sessions on this device, that a message flashed on our Minecraft screen, reporting that a crash related "LOG FILE HAS BEEN SENT TO APPLE"
Please do indicate if I can get access to the file system of Apple TV using my iphone, my PC, and/or any app (short of jailbreaking it, which is hard to do on the latest OS anyway)
I am no stranger to technology (I have programmed during my PhD days and beyond, but not in Java, etc). I would venture to disclose my suspicion that the problem could be linked to a time-out at X-box live, or some other server, coupled with the quality of internet access at the customer/client location.
Version 1.1.1 was crashing all the time but did not actually lose a world. It was just losing a hours of progress.
Versions 1.1.2 and 1.1.3 are losing ALL worlds that anyone has cared to work with for a few hours. It just does not report that the worlds lost have been corrupted. The behaviour is νος as follows:
(1) Minecraft crashes consistently at the same point of loading a lost world without actually reporting it as lost, OR
(2) The world actually opens with huge holes in it 16x16 blocks wide, all the way down and through the bedrock. Whoever falls in, mob or player, dies. OR
(3) The world opens with perhaps a few eggs left, from your chicken farm, your horse (complete with name tag), but none of your houses or other installations, or maybe one quarter of a home.
This stuff happens particularly just before or after the issue of a new update, that usually comes celebrating the fix of more types of crashes. We really have these updates frequently these days. Can you let us opt out? Thanks, but no thanks. You could also provide advance warning, so that we hold off playing when your systems are under pressure. This would be preferable to losing everything.
As it is, my family has by now lost all the meaningful worlds that we had. My daughter is crying, Apple is telling us to talk to the "developer", and desperate dad is left wondering why he bothers filing unanswered messages to a company that has a wonderful product that got us all hooked, but cannot be bothered to provide a trivial local word backup feature to save us all this aggravation!
Please do not discount this issue as duplicate. It is not a duplicate. It is a clear request for a new feature, that of world backup, which is unavailable on Apple TV, as a safety measure, particularly in view of consistent world corruption on this platform. To provide this would be a really straight forward task and would enable us to use our current worlds without having to wait for the fix, which has proved to be much more complex to resolve.
I may have used the wrong forum for this, but I could not open an issue with the heading "new feature". I could only open an issue with the heading "bug".
Please kindly forward this request as appropriate, or provide instructions so that I can do it. Otherwise the inability to backup, in the presence bugs or otherwise, is somehow lost while we are looking for bug fixes.
I am a programmer. You and I both know what I am talking about.
Many thanks and kind regards,
Thanks! When is v1.1 due for release?
MINECRAFT ON APPLE TV IS EFFECTIVELY AS USABLE AS A DEMO VERSION MIGHT HAVE BEEN.

Same problems here,as detailed above. The game of Minecraft on Apple TV, although playable, is in effect aimless. As soon as you build a world that you are happy with, you are 100% guaranteed to lose it. On survival mode, which really is the primary (non cheat) mode, the only way to obtain the materials necessary to reach a certain level of comfort/security is to have a world big enough in megabytes to be corrupted.
The descriptions of my fellow sufferers are identical to what I would have provided.
In addition, if it helps locate the problem/solution better:
My personal circumstances:
Apple TV 64GB, dozens of GB's free, Minecraft Version 1.0.8. Worlds stored locally on my Apple TV. I am not using realms, subscription services, multiplayer gaming, etc. Just the basic setup, as configured straight after the original purchase of Minecraft. Apple TV is accessing my home network and the internet via WiFi.
Although there are (rare) game crashes while playing, on return to the game, I may lose just a little bit of my progress, which is not a big problem. These may be related to WiFi interference, or issues that I cannot identify, but this is not my main issue here. I just note it because I noticed your comments accompanying the latest release and I suspect that you may have been looking in the wrong direction...
MY WORLDS NEVER GET CORRUPTED AND RENDERED UNUSABLE DURING PLAY, OR IF I "QUIT AND SAVE" AND IMMEDIATELY RESTART PLAY.
MY WORLDS HAVE IN ALL INSTANCES BECOME CORRUPTED AFTER CONFIRMED SAVES AND EXITS FROM MINECRAFT, BUT ON CONDITION THAT
(A) I RETURNED TO PLAY THE GAME HOURS LATER, USUALLY OVERNIGHT AND
(B) THESE WORLDS WERE "BIG/COMPLEX ENOUGH"
UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES MINECRAFT IMMEDIATELY REPORTS THE CORRUPTION UPON LOADING, BEFORE YOU EVER GET THE CHANCE TO USE THE WORLD THAT YOU HAVE PAINSTAKINGLY PREPARED.
i do not know how complex this bug is to track down. Your investigation is already months old apparently. In the meantime however, it is important to realize that Apple TV, as a product, offers no file management or global backup method, or any way of taking a backup copy of the Minecraft datafile that relates to a particular world. I have just confirmed this with Apple.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------SURELY MOJANG CAN AT THE VERY LEAST OFFER IN THE NEXT VERSION FOR APPLE TV THE ABILITY TO BACKUP A WORLD LOCALLY OR EXPORT A FILE SOMEWHERE !!!

Many thanks
Thank you. I had given up. We were not even receiving feedback.
My kids have not played Minecraft/AppleTV for months and are using alternatives as the game on Apple TV is
(a) demo-like in its single player version and
(b) incompatible with other people's (bedrock) versions, so they can not play with each other or their friends.
I am sure that we will come straight back when you resolve the issue, but it is over a year now.
