Large Minecraft Xbox Series X world (~4 GB) cannot be downloaded from cloud – download fails immediately
Salutation: Dear Mojang Development Team,
Description: I am experiencing a critical issue with a Minecraft save on Xbox stored in the Xbox Cloud. The world is approximately 4 GB in size and has been built over several years by my children and their friends. Attempts to synchronize this world from the cloud fail immediately, before the world can be accessed or loaded.
Important observation: If a world were corrupted, it should normally download successfully and only fail when trying to open it in-game. Here, the download itself fails, indicating a possible issue with cloud metadata or the synchronization logic.
Steps already taken (unsuccessful):
1. Contacted Microsoft/Xbox Support
Cloud storage confirmed to be working correctly
All other games synchronize properly
Written statement: if the download fails in-game, the issue is with Mojang/Minecraft
2. Contacted Mojang/Minecraft Support
Multiple replies, all standard texts
Statement: Mojang cannot verify or restore cloud worlds
3. Cleared local Minecraft saved data
4. Power cycled console multiple times
5. Factory reset Xbox, reinstalled Minecraft
6. Other worlds, profiles, purchases, and add-ons synchronize correctly

Salutation:
Dear Mojang Development Team,

3. Cleared local Minecraft saved data
4. Power cycled console multiple times
5. Factory reset Xbox, reinstalled Minecraft
6. Other worlds, profiles, purchases, and add-ons synchronize correctly
7. Cloud storage is sufficient
Additional information:
World size: ~4 GB
Contains years of gameplay and memories
Cloud upload previously worked without problems
Suspected cause:
Corrupted cloud metadata (manifest, signatures, container)
Mismatch between cloud index and local references
Expected behavior:
Download should start
If corrupted, failure should occur during load, not during download
Requested technical review / outcome:
1. Validate cloud metadata and manifest files
2. Check container structure and integrity
3. Technical explanation why the download fails before loading
4. Possibility for recovery (full or partial)
5. Forwarding to the technical engineering team
Thank you for reviewing this case.
Kind regards,
Tobias Ritzmann
