Just resolved the crash-on-launch "global resources" issue my kid has had for a month or two, on a fully up-to-date iPad. Couldn't get a screenshot of the crash, as Minecraft folded completely as the message was appearing- just got glimpses of it... iOS logs available on request.

Fixed as follows: Using iTunes, saved a copy of the Minecraft "games" folder, duplicated it, and experimented with removing worlds from the minecraftWorlds folder in the copy, then re-adding (thus overwriting) "games" through iTunes. After halving through all 135 words he had, it turned out to be none of them. Replacing the "games" folder with an empty copy did however allow MCPE to launch, though, of course, with no saved preferences.

So I had a look at the preferences stored in "games", and decide the most likely culprit was options.txt. On a hunch, I removed the following lines:

game_lastcustomskinnew:c18e65aa-7b21-4637-9b63-8ad63622ef01_CustomSlim

game_recentskin3:c18e65aa-7b21-4637-9b63-8ad63622ef01_Custom

-The only "skin" lines in the file, and the only customisations, I'm aware of. I believe they come from a Girl Skins pack.

Voila. Minecraft working again, all worlds intact. Happy kid, playing Minecraft, instead of watching idiots on YouTube blabbering while playing Minecraft.....
