MCPE-35078

Wont go past Initial white Minecraft page

Update on this issue by [~Auldrick]

*13-Nov-19:* - The symptoms described in this report can have very many causes. At the time of this report, 3 separate causes were identified, and all of them were fixed by the time 1.8 was released. There were no subsequent reports of the bug, so this ticket was closed as Fixed 10 months ago.

The recent reports of similar symptoms on iOS since 1.13.0 was released have unrelated causes which are being tracked at MCPE-54465. I would recommend upvoting and watching that issue if you started having a problem like this on your iOS device at about the time of the 1.13.0 release. Some of the causes of the problem were fixed in 1.13.1, but the developers have more known causes that they're still working on.

Update on this issue by [~Mega_Spud]

*11-Oct-18:* - The 1.8.x beta versions now have a loading screen feature that enables us to see exactly what is being loaded - if you are able to include a screenshot here of the loading screen at the point where it is crashing it would very helpful.

*25-July-18:* - The 1.5.2.1 hotfix should have resolved the issue for many of the players. For anyone still affected, could you please leave a comment below that includes your device details and any new information that might help in finding out the cause of the problem.

*23-July-18:* The latest on the issue is that players are getting stuck on the loading screen as it tries to load in certain textures for the in game store. The developers have pinned down the problem and we are working on getting a hotfix out to resolve this as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience!

I have the Samsung Galaxy S9+ and I have uninstalled the app, cleared cache, cleared data, restarted my phone, did a factory reset and I checked to see if my device supported NEON (it does) , and it still wont yo past the first white minecraft loading page

The same thing is happening to me. I have a Samsung galaxy s7 edge and everytime I try to get on it, it won't go past the white loading page. I have uninstalled twice, restarted my phone, turned off my phone, and nothing worked. It won't even go past the first loading page.

migrated

Same with me i just got an lg today brand new download mincraft then opened it then stuck on that white minecraft screen

migrated

I have the same issue! I'm playing on my Samsung galaxy tab 4. Before today, everything was working smoothly, but now it's not working even after I uninstalled and reinstalled more than 3 times.

migrated

The same is happening to me. I have a LG phone and it is not going passed the white screen.

LG Aristo 2

migrated

I have the same issue on my Galaxy S6.
Was working fine until a few hours ago, now when I try to open the app it is stuck at the screenshotted white title card.
I've tried everything I can think of, but no matter what the issue persists.
What gives?

migrated

I get the same issue on Samsung Galaxy tab A. I can get around it if I manually change the date to a few months before 1/July/2018 and it opens. Dont know why.

migrated

This has happened to my Samsung Galaxy Tab A as well. I keep getting the white splash screen as per above image and I have tried uninstalling and deleting the apps storage data and clearing the cache and I still can't get past the white screen with the Minecraft logo. I have tried reinstalling and nothing works.

same bug as MCPE-34901 and MCPE-34952

migrated

Same it's making me stay on the title screen are u serious I spent $10! For this to happen!

migrated

Its doing the same for me we need to get this fixed because we payed money for this app and i would like to play it

migrated

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge - Same issue.  Was working fine for days.  Shut down game normally, rebooted phone, tried to run again and now it will not start.

Note: installing block launcher and launching the game from there works, but still doesn't work when launching game directly.

migrated

Same here i have the Sony Xperia xz

migrated

Me too, but on a Moto x4 running Android 8.1.

HOWEVER, I can open it if I launch it with a third party app called "MCPE Master", does not work with "CM Cleaner" or "Zedge"'s game launchers. Confirm it works with " Block Launcher"

Please note, with MCPE Master, you can't use anything that needs to or needed to require internet. With Block Launcher, it appears a weird bug also happens if you are close to redstone circutry of medium size

migrated

I am experiencing the same issue on a Galaxy S6 edge+ running Android 7.0.  Also on a Galaxy tab s2 on Android 7.0.. However my wife's Galaxy S7 with Android 8.0.0 is working perfectly fine.

migrated

I tried Block Launcher as well, and it did work. It’s not as smooth as playing directly on the Minecraft app but at least it’s a way to play until this issue is fixed.

migrated

Same issue on a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 SMT-350 Running Android 7.1.1. I am also able to get the game running using BlockLauncher but not without.

migrated

Same issue here. Was working fine yesterday afternoon. Stuck on white "Minecraft" screen this morning.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016) - SM-T280

Android 5.1.1

Minecraft PE 1.4.4 from the official Google Play store.

I've cleared data, cache, uninstalled the game and re installed, I've also logged out of the Xbox profile in the Xbox app. Still no luck.

I have a very unhappy 7 year old.

migrated

Same problem as these folks, Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, Android version 4.4.2 . Worked fine yesterday, stuck loading today.

migrated

Same exact problem here version 1.4.4.0 (non apk) (no mods) just stuck on white Minecraft screen then goes back to my home screen

migrated

Same issue at 1.4.4 and beta 1.6.0.5, Android version 7.1.2, just stuck on logo and doesn't open main menu. (Device: Xiaomi Redmi 4X)

migrated

Same issue with my s9+ having Android 8.0

migrated

I have been experiencing the same issue with MCPE since 1.4.4. When I open the app it freezes on the white-background Mojang screen.

Device Model: SG S8 edge

Carrier: Sprint

Broadband: Xfinity

Android v: 8.0.0

MCPE v: 1.4.4

Memory available: 10 gigs+

This is a native install from the Google Play Store... absolutely no mods whatsoever.

Steps taken:

(Restarted device before and after every install. )

1. Uninstall/Reinstall (×3) - NO CHANGE

2. Uninstall/ Reinstall ...and deleted all related files I could locate. - NO CHANGE

3. Toggled WiFi, uninstall/reinstall to run app on both in home wifi AND carrier- NO CHANGE

4. Freed up additional space by deleting unused apps and files, ensured all background apps were closed.... uninstall/reinstall. - NO CHANGE

5. Opened app and let sit 30 minutes+. - NO CHANGE

6. Toggled Airplane mode - NO CHANGE

7. Updated and ran PM-GO! and an MMO (HIGHEST resource apps I could find). Alternate apps ran flawlessly... Closed all control apps ran MCPE. - NO CHANGE.

8. Ran MWB virus scan... no issues found.

9. Toggled battery save modes, Attempted to run in max, minimum, and none.... - NO CHANGE.

10. Manually allowed MCPE app ALL permissions... - NO CHANGE.

I'm in IT, TROUBLESHOOTING is what I do. I've spent 5 hours on this. - NO CHANGE

Changing your  device's date to before 01 July 2018 works for me. This may help debugging?

migrated

Same fix does not work for me on Oneplus Three model phone, android 8.0.0

migrated

Same problem here, using Sony Xperia XA1.
Didn't update on anything, no mops, no xBox live account. Was playing it before sleep and couldn't pass the white screen next morning.
Tried everything (restarted phone, uninstalled and download again from Play Store, deleted all data and re-installed, turned off wifi, network, … … just nothing works.

Very frustrated.

migrated

same issue for these phones:

Samsung A5

Huawei Mate 9

Frozen at MINECRAFT screen.

migrated

Same issue with a xiaomi redmi note 4, the Android version is 7.0

migrated

I think mojang/minecraft added an update that works in the background that stops the game from launching. Basically here's what I understand from the bug:

1) Bug started on Sunday, July 2, 2018. Somebody commented above that backtracking the date of thr app i think or his phone makes the app work.

2) Being online or offline doesn't seem to be the issue. My data was on yesterday but I had no data to use. Not sure how it is for everyone.

3) Seems it have affected a lot of android users.

migrated

phew I thought I was the only one who has the same issue. 😞

migrated

I have the same problem. My mobile is a Nokia 8 running Oreo 8.1.

migrated

Same here.

Samsung Tab 4, Android 5.1.1 working fine a day or two ago.

Hangs on start.

Reset, un-install and delte /games/com.mojang then re-install did not fix it.

When it starts up there is some https traffic to the internet from the app to to some IP's without a reverse DNS and then nothing, it hangs.

Kids iPads and my iPhone are fine.

migrated

Same problem, Galaxy tab s2 android 7.  Game was working fine until 8pm 2nd July, now stuck on white screen.  I'll be wanting a refund if not reolved soon 😞

migrated

Same problem om Huawei m2-a01w... and just got the game

migrated

Same problem as everyone else above on an Amazon Fire HD 10 7th generation. It was working on Sunday July 2nd. Have tried force stop, clear cache, clear data, ununstall, reinstall, and reboot. Was going to try factory reset but reading comments above makes me think it will not work.

migrated

When I had this problem all I did to fix it was to delete all my resource packs through my file manager. I could of moved the packs temporary but I figured just to delete them because I personally don't use them often and they crash the game frequently.

migrated

Same here as of July 2nd. I use a Galaxy Tab E, Android 7.1.1

Everything was working fine July 1st when I was playing on my realm with a friend. I tried restarting the device, then clearing the cash and restarting again, and when that didn't work I uninstalled and reinstalled the app. It still will not move pas the white loading screen.

Just to follow up, I have a Google Pixel 2XL where the app (same version) works fine. I also get the logcat errors there about image decoding (Unable to decode stream: java.io.FileNotFoundException: /data/data/com.mojang.minecraftpe/games/com.mojang/minecraftpe/custom.png (No such file or directory)) so I don't think that's related to the problem. However the following error I see on the Samsung that I don't get on the Pixel 2:

07-03 08:09:11.473 25628-25644/? D/libGLESv2: STS_GLApi : DTS, ODTC are not allowed for Package : com.mojang.minecraftpe

Perhaps that is more relevant.

Same thing on my Samsung Tab A (2017)

I have a workaround that has worked on 3 devices in my household.
1. Make sure Minecraft is NOT open.
2. Change the devices' date (in settings) from automatic to a little while before the bug - we chose June 18th. (if you change it back to auto the issue may recur)
3. Turn off the devices' internet access (both Wi-Fi and mobile data)
4. Open Minecraft.
5. Open settings from the title screen, goto Profile.
6. Sign Out of Xbox live.
--------------------------------------------
Additional steps to play xbox live:
7. Re-enable the internet.
8. Click 'sign into xbox live'
9. Click 'add account' (DO NOT click directly on your email if it's already listed)
10. Login using your email and password. (if it errors just try again)
NOTE: You must have entered your password in the step above for Minecraft to work while on Xbox live. If you accidentally logged in another way, go back to step 3.

It may sound long-winded but as long as you follow the instructions word for word, it works for as long as you don't put the date back to automatic. This fix has continued to work on all devices I've done it on since I did them yesterday. You can always repeat the fix.

Good luck, hopefully it will be fixed properly soon.

migrated

Thanks for the detailed workaround, Joy!

I tried your method and was able to kind of get the game to work.  I get an error, "It appears you don't have a license for Minecraft. Make sure you have downloaded and installed Minecraft from the store."  I tried a few different dates (we purchased the game last December) and nothing worked.

Thanks for the suggestion, though!  I hope it works for others!

migrated

This also happened to me on my Samsung Galaxy J5 2015, but it worked perfectly on my brother’s Kindle Fire HD 8.

migrated

Joy Smith, I tried that, it didn’t work. What device are you using?

migrated

Yeah I'm having the same problem on my Motorola Moto g6. It's worked so smooth. I have 3gigs of RAM and since yesterday it doesn't get past the white screen with the logo. I tried all of that stuff. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it 6 times and nothing. I looked it up and found out other people on Android only are having the same problem!

migrated

Having purchased and installed Minecraft on Android for the first time, I am experiencing the same issue. Since this this appears to be login related, here are some details about my situation:

While I never installed Minecraft on Android before, I have Minecraft Java edition, and I have a minecraft.net account under the same gmail address that I use for purchases on the play store. Is it possible that there is an account collision of sorts? Also, I do not have an xbox live account.

My Android device is Pixel2

migrated

I got mcpe to work. I did that workaround from joy but when it said no licence I turned my internet back on and then it worked. After that I turned my time back to normal then it crashed once and now it's fully functional! Tell me if this works for you guys.

migrated

Same issue here with 1.4.4.0 on our new Lenovo tablet. Worked just fine a few days ago. Workaround from Joy works to get it started but setting time back causes YouTube app and Chrome to complain about connection security 😞

migrated

The same thing started to happen to me the other night. It would crash on me and apparently a youtuYouhad the same problem. I reinstalled it and now like the others it doesn't go past the loading screen. Edit. I have a Motorola E4 plus

migrated

Thanks so much Joy Smith! I had tried changing the date before, but nothing really happened. It then dawned on me that I actually needed to be signed out of MCPE and have the app closed while doing this process. LOL :'-) Thanks so much!

migrated

Resolved issue by manually deleting all files with a file app.

migrated

I've seen, people here writing what you can start game, after changing date for more early, than 1 July, but this doesn't work. How game stops at logo screen before the change, it continues stops after.

Devs - I would be happy to work with you to help resolve this. If you're unable to reproduce this in your labs, I would be happy to provide debug dumps or logs, or whatever else you may need. Just let me know.

migrated

I was able to resolve with, possibly, the date change.  Here's, roughly, what I did.

  1. Manually set date back a month or so...

  2. Disable all data (Wifi, Cellular)

  3. Launch Game

    1. Either it works, or you get License error

    2. If license error

  4. Uninstall Game

  5. Set Time to Automatic

  6. Enable Wifi

  7. Enter Play Store

  8. Download Game

  9. WHILE GAME IS DOWNLOADING - leave play store

  10. Set date to Manual and backward a month

  11. Wait for Install to finish (icon shows up)

  12. Install finished

  13. Disable Data (Wifi, Cellular)

  14. Launch Game

  15. Get License Error, Again (don't worry)

  16. Enable Data (Wifi)

Well that's didn't work sadly Jonathan

Device: Samsung J7 Sky Pro

I have tried everything from uninstalling the game to moving the saves out of the folders and deleting all the folders that minecraft is stored in. Still having the same problem

migrated

Same problem - LG Fortune : android : no root

killerbeenl83

Had the same issue on one of my devices (Motorola G4 plus, android v 7.0, no root). Online, offline booting the game. Reinstalling and making sure the game storage folders are deleted. Nothing seemed to change anything in starting the game.

Some players reported a factory reset would resolve the issue. So what i did was uninstall the game. Delete all cache / data for the google play services. To be exact: Google Play services, Google Play services for Instant Apps, Google Play store. Then i went ahead to uninstall recent updates for the mentioned services. Reverting them back to factory default. The phone starts giving error messages (expected) as some apps depend on the updated google services. Reinstalled the services and verified my login (for google). Hard rebooted the device (volume down and power button), to make sure everything is running again. Reinstalled Minecraft and it works again. (at least for now)

Posting this as it might help to debug the issue. Doing any of the above is at your own risk. As brands and software are different this might have unexpected or different results on other devices.

Same issue here. Can't get past white logo screen as of 3rd July. Samsung Galaxy S9+, version 1.4.4

migrated

Same here on my sisters galaxy s6. Tried clearing cache, reinstalling the game etc. But nothing works still freezes on that white screen. On my galaxy s9 (exynos) it still works fine though.

migrated

I followed the steps killerbeenl provided. However I reduced the steps to just this.

1) Clearing the cache and data of google play store.

2) Uninstalled minecraft and reinstalled it.

It works even if i'm connected online. However I woulf recommend not connecting online when the app is run. Also what I did didn't require factory resetting, clearing minecraft cache or data which I know is a pain for all the users.

I think the problem here is that the app tries to connect online to google playstore. In the process of retrieving that data and the app doesn't fully complete the process, it keeps an incomplete connection/data of not connecting to playstore thus ending up getting stuck at the white minecraft screen no matter what we do. Hope this helps the devs resolve the issue. Now back to mining for me. Lol.

Found the bug the bug works when u attempt to switch it to external SD card even if u had 1 inside.

Had this issue for a couple days, and it's working now. I didn't do anything, so maybe it's fixed.

migrated

Same issue. I have the Essential phone, unrooted, running Android 8.1.0. Tried asking Mojang support about it via Twitter, or at least an update, but they directed me here.

Thank you so much, this worked for me!

Looks like it is working for me too. I didn't do anything after my first post.

migrated

Now working again for me. Didn’t try anything to fix it.

migrated

Ditto. I did nothing and it works. Mojang or Google obviously did something. It would be nice to have this closed with a reason.

migrated

My issue has also resolved itself without me intervening.

migrated

I think simply reopening the game fixed it. I did this when I first updated because it always happens, the game won't open the first time I play it every update but I just reopen it and it works fine.

migrated

the same isue for me on Samsung Galaxy S9+. Reopening does not help.

migrated

cleared cache for all google, but did not help 😞

Like for others this issue seems to have resolved itself, at least for me. But if would be good to have an understanding of what the issue was.

Same for Kindle Fire. Please fix.

Still an issue on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3

[Mojang] Mega_Spud (Jay)

This issue seems to have gone away and come back again. For those affected, did the issue come and go, or has it always been an issue?

If you try changing your Xbox live login (using the Xbox app on Android) does that help it get past the Minecraft screen?

Also which versions are affected in the most recent occurrence?

this happens again in version 1.6.0.6

I and my husband have the same model. (Android X1)
I can start a game. But my husband can't start a game.

There is capacity sufficiently both.
The version is 8.1.0.

My husband keeps waiting from July 11.
He feels sad very much. It's very regrettable that I can't play a game with him, either.
I want you to settle this problem fast.

migrated

I found a way to bypass it. I download Minecraft from the play stoe. Adjust my settings in-game, skins, but I don't download the music pack. After doing that I create a new world and stay in it for 5 seconds and close the game once I exit to the minecraft menu. Once that happens Minecraft never crashes for me as long as I enter the world for 5 seconds and quit everytime. But the weird thing is that doing this you can't get the music pack in the store because it negates the bypass of crashing. After downloading the music pack, I always seem to crash continuously when opening Minecraft. Hopes this help. This happens in 1.5.0.14 for me. Samsung Galaxy S8+.

migrated

As I explained in the MCPE-35719, I can't longer access with 1.5.0.14 and Android 7.0 and a SM-A510F device (Samsung Galaxy A5 2016). I am waiting for 14th of July 2018 for a bugfix. with that bugfix, I can return to my worlds with Application as file storage location.

Sends me back to my home screen on my s7 edge but for some reason works perfectly fine on my Samsung tablet.

migrated

I have a Lenovo android tablet 5.0.1 and I have the same issue

migrated

Same. I have an iPad 4 with iOS 10.3.3. I can't pass the Minecraft logo because then it crashes. I was investigating and this occurs to some iOS and Windows 10 users too. I hope this can be solved.

migrated

Same issue, different platform. At the white screen shortly after "Minecraft" logo is done being displayed (which also seems to take a long time to appear), app closes and returns me to iOS home screen. Double-tapping home button to show open apps shows Minecraft is still running, and shows how the app appeared the last time we had it open (the world selection screen), but touching it to open it prompts the app to restart, starts the cycle over again. Closing the app manually and restarting has no different effect. Playing on iOS 10.3.3, 4th gen. iPad. Tried turning on/off airplane mode to see if it was issue with Xbox Live login, didn't have any effect. Have not tried reinstalling for fear of losing worlds.

migrated

Same issue, but with iPad mini 2, iOS 11.4.1 and Minecraft 1.5.1

migrated

I was redirected from https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCPE-35940 but I'm not sure it's the same problem.

My problem didn't start until after the 1.5.1 update, while this seems like an older issue where the game crashes before it even fully loads.  Mine also seems to be very specifically related to the new beach panorama in the background.  It has decided to load the old underwater panorama from the 1.5.0 update a few times, and when that happened I was able to play as normal.  The only oddity when this happened was the magenta and black squares of a missing texture appearing as the background when I saved.

Ipad Air 1 Model MD789LL/B

iOS 11.4.1

migrated

Redirected from MCPE-35940 to here, but judging from the symptoms this doesn't look much like the same issue. Maybe the underlying cause is the same, though. MCPE-35940 (and many duplicates) describes a condition specific to 1.5.1 on many iOS and some other devices where the background and menu often manages to load and crash happens after that.

migrated

The background and menu don't even manage to load. It crashes just after the Minecraft logo.

migrated

I don't have this problem, but when I changed to the Norse texture pack, I no longer get the aquatic background but the Norse one. I don't know if this will help anybody, but if the problem is the aquatic background (which I get with Chroma Hills), maybe, if you can somehow manage it on another device in some way, a change of texture packs might be a workaround.

migrated

So it’s been ongoing and unresolved - when will I be able to play again?

migrated

Im playing on a lumia 532 and happens the same thing

migrated

Same issue - iPad mini.  I click on the Minecraft Pocket Edition, it opens to "Mojang" logo, then a white screen, then a stone "Minecraft" logo and then it crashes, back to home screen - except it's still running in the background, and if you click it - it does the same exact thing.  This is my son's game, and he would rather not lose his worlds that him, his brother and dad worked to build.

migrated

The game crashes/closes at the Minecraft logo on my wife's iPad Mini. She does not use custom/extra content or even an XBox account.

migrated

On my son's Kindle Fire 7 it shows the white screen then goes back to the homescreen. The problem started a few days back. He's v reluctant to attempt to remove and reinstall because of losing his worlds, and from what I've seen it wouldn't work anyway. I'd LOVE to be able to get it working again.

migrated

If it doesn’t get fixed soon I may have to leave my mom’s basement.

migrated

The 1.5.2 update fixed it for me =3

migrated

Version 1.5.1 is freezing up on me during start up and when not on WiFi it freezes up very quickly after starting to play.

migrated

When will iPhone sprint customers get the 1.5.2 update to correct these bugs?

migrated

Got 1.5.2 update just after asking but it has not fixed my start up issues. 😭

migrated

1.5.2 seems to be working on my wife's iPad Mini now (at least to the main menu). It did say that global resources were reset and that a crash was detected - I'm assuming that's expected as part of the recovery from 1.5.1 not working.

migrated

We have this Problem on Kindle Fire since 21. July. The game ist crashing after The white “Minecraft“ screen. A lot oft other Players report this on Amazon Germany.

migrated

Got the 1.5.2 update today for our Samsung tab but still crashes during startup.

migrated

Same issue on my ZenFone 3 running unofficial LineageOS 15.1; however, my Xperia TX, which also runs unofficial LineageOS 15.1 works just fine.

migrated

Ever since the 1.5 update, launching the game has resulted in a black screen, then the white "Minecraft" screen, before going back to a black screen briefly and then the bottom taskbar appearing (back, desktop buttons etc.) and the app closing and kicked. On successive attempts, this still occurs but quicker. My device is the LenovoPad TB3-850F, and is running Android 6.0, with a CPU of quad core 1GHZ.

I'm using an LG V30+ (Model Number: LG-LS998, * *Software Version: LS99821a) on Android 8.0.0 (Security patch level May 1, 2018) Kernel Version 4.4.78, Security Software Version MDF v3.1 Release 2.

I've been using my purchased app of Minecraft Pocket Edition (MCPE) which was working great prior to the 1.5.0.14 version that was updated via the Google Play store on July 10th, 2018. Obviously I have since rebooted it several times, this phone is solid... meaning I am unable to remove a battery.

Currently I launch the game, it states the name MINECRAFT logo with a white background, it then acts like it's going to the next screen, and then the app closes with no error displayed. It's acting like an app crash that for some reason cannot handle the next loading screen which would be simply the main menu. I personally have downloaded the Minecraft Music prior to the v1.5.0.14 so I could play music in the game. Not sure if this is related or causing additional issues as well.

I do have a file manager app on my LG V30+ that will allow me to view the internal storage and I can see in the root there is a games folder. Within it there is a com.mojang and from within there I have additional folders (attached to screenshot) but I'm not sure if there is anything relevant to help with determining the lingering issue of not being able to open it. I have opened the logs folder, but there are no files.

I'd love to uninstall the game & perform a re-install, but I have local game data I'd love to save that I've spent hours creating with my family.

The 1.5.2.1 hotfix should has not resolved the issue for me. My device is a Samsung Galaxy S8. The only piece of additional information I can give about this is that upon the first time opening the app after the hotfix, it spent a little bit longer on the initial Minecraft logo screen with the white background.

migrated

Yep uptade from last comment my Minecraft is crashing because of the in game music. I can confirm that for my case

migrated

I also downloaded the music recently, I guess I never noticed that ever since I downloaded it a little while ago I started having all sorts of problems (all were resolved besides this one which crashes after the Minecraft logo screen).

migrated

1.5.2.1 resolved issue for us on iPad 4. Same outcome as Ben S. above, when we arrived at the main menu we got a pop-up at top of screen saying something about global resources being reset and a crash being detected. Works fine now.

Update: Saw someone earlier saying that Minecract would launch via "Block Launcher" and so I downloaded this app and now it works, but only through Block Launcher. Not sure why, but my worlds aren't showing up? I didn't delete them? Very confused as to why Minecraft loads through this other app but not when I actually tap on the actual Minecraft app. Please help.

migrated

Another update: went on Chrome and searched up Sphax Purebdcraft texture pack. I tapped the link that lead to the Minecraft Bedrock Marketplace. Minecraft automatically launched and I was taken to the place where I would download the Sphax texture pack. At the top it said something about a global crash report for a few seconds. And now, the app seems to be opening perfectly fine? I highly reccomend anyone else with this problem goes to the Sphax texture pack website and click the link that takes you to the marketplace page about their texture pack. Hope that wasn't too confusing. Warning: all of my worlds seem to have disappeared. Very upset about this, and yes, I did try changing from "external" to "application" and vice versa. Very upset about this. Hope Mojang can fix this....

migrated

Update: I am playing Minecraft on a Kindle Fire 7, I think I am the only one with this problem with this device. Whenever I try to run Minecraft, the game will load but whenever it turns onto the white background with the MINECRAFT screen, the game crashes. I can't seem to get past this. Apparently this is being fixed for others but definitely not for me. Below I have given you information about my device, if the developers see this, PLEASE FIX. I am missing out on loads of things just because of this. We paid for the game and if it's not working, it's a waste of money. I am begging the developers to fix this issue, I am sure it is not only me, hundreds of others are also experiencing this issue.

Could those still affected tell us which (if any) any global resources they had applied before the issue started please?

migrated

By "global resources" I assume you mean resource packs and skin packs; in that sense, no, bar free skins I added, but these were added months before the issue arose. If the definition stretches to maps from the Store, yes; I had recently redownloaded the "Ready, Sleddy, Go!" map I acquired for free over Christmas. Also, the music download too which I aborted as it was doing it as it didn't seem to be doing anything.

Other then that, we have everything game wise exactly the same running on our Androids.

migrated

I resolved this error on my Samsung Galaxy S8 by clicking a link online (PureBD Sphax website?) that takes me to the Minecraft Marketplace. This opened my Minecraft for the first time in a while and the game has been loading fine ever since. Despite this, all of my worlds have been deleted, and so has the Minecraft music that I downloaded before I was having problems. I have never had a problem launching the game before I downloaded the music. The app now opens perfectly fine, but sadly my worlds are all deleted. I hope this helped other people who have been having this problem and the people who work at Mojang.

[Mojang] Mega_Spud (Jay)

That's a really useful observation @@unknown.

For those affected, are you able to launch minecraft by pressing the "Get This Item" button in this page: https://marketplace.minecraft.net/en-us/pdp?title=purebdcraft

(Purchase not necessary - it should just launch the game and open the marketplace)

If I follow the link for mobile, and choose Android... I'm back at this page on the Google Store which allows me to "open the app" but then continues to crash.

[Mojang] Mega_Spud (Jay)

Are you sure you're tapping the green button "Get This Item"? That shouldn't lead you to the play store as far as I can tell.

migrated

So If I click the big "GET THIS ITEM" which links to (https://marketplace.minecraft.net/en-us/pdp?title=purebdcraft) it attempts to open my MCPE but just like before crashes after the white Minecraft logo, and again no error.

I'm having the same problem listed above. I have an s7 edge with android version 8.0.0, and every time I open it up, the game crashes after the "Minecraft" loading screen. Clicking the "GET THIS ITEM" button doesn't work for me either. This all started after the first time I played without being signed into my Xbox live account. (I had to sign in to download Minecraft Music so in game music disks would work, then signed out)

migrated

Another update: I had installed a shaders resource pack and when I tried to try it out, that's where my issue started.

I've been reading the past comments and it seems that a lot of people are downloading the Minecraft Music prior to their game not working. I'm convinced that's what went wrong with my game, because I did the same thing. Wanted music disks to work, then downloaded it, now I can't play Minecraft. Is their a bug or something in downloading the Music?

Oh yeah, I am having the same problem to those who didn't catch the subtle hint.

migrated

Zachary I think you are onto something...
I really don't want to have to uninstall & reinstall the entire MCPE game. I've got some worlds I'd love to keep, but even under /game/com.mojang/minecraftWorlds there are no files 😞

Does anyone know if there is anyway to manually uninstall the MineCraft Music if it was previously installed as a way to test this theory out?

migrated

Nathan, I too went through the files, and I found nothing regarding the Minecraft music.  No files or anything hinting it would be it. I'll bite the bullet and delete my saves, and game and see if it fixes anything (hopefully deletes Minecraft Music with it)

UPDATE: I just went into my settings and cleared the cache for minecraft, tried to open the app.. nothing- still having the same problem. Then went back into settings and cleared the data (cleared everything), then tried the app.. AND IT WORKS AGAIN. It's a bummer I had to delete my only save which I had over 25 hours on but it's better than nothing. Last resort try that.

migrated

I thought that may be the way we'd have to go eventually... I've got about 48+ hours on my Worlds that my kiddos and I have built with their Mom and I'd hate to have to blow it all away.... but it sounds like we may need to bite the bullet as well 😞

We learned a lot which should make things go a lot faster this time around if we need to start from scratch. :\

migrated

Yeah, I downloaded the music as well, there must be some kind of connection...

migrated

NOOOOOOOOOoooooo Zachary. You didn't need to delete it. You could've moved the world folder to another directory...

@Scott Everingham so if I move minecraft and it's folders on to my SD card that will get the game to work

I'm waiting for version "1.6.0.30" to roll out into the Google Play store that Scott mentioned above. Apparently this fixes the issue... my question is how many times am I going to have to update my current version before it's working again. ⚠️

I'm currently running MCPE v1.5.3.0 & it sounds like I have quite a wait to go . . . 😞

@Nathan Hammack

1.6.0.30 is out (it's a Beta).

. . . & can we download it from the Google Play Store / iOS? (That's my point is that we're going to have to wait if it's still in Beta) unless you have some other means to be able to share this Beta version that seems to be the one that fixes a rather big issue for all of the users affected that have reported it in this documented bug chain.

Dr.Awesome4333

You can join the Beta on Google Play by going to the Minecraft page and scrolling to the bottom of the page. Warning Betas can be unstable and may have world corrupting bugs. Please back up your worlds before playing on the beta.
There is currently no public beta program for iOS.

OH GOSH I AM SO SORRY. I had no idea that you couldn't become a beta tester on some platforms. Sorry to those who went looking for it.

On my Acer B1-770 Running Android 5.0.1, the issue has started for me a few days after i updated to beta 1.6.0.6. Two updates later it suddenly started working. I was so excited because it was working again so I assumed they had fixed it. I sincerely apologize to those who are quite mad at me for assuming and putting everybody on the edge of their seats

Edit: When I had updated it, I had my "com.mojang" folder renamed to "com.mojangster" so it couldn't find the folder. I am clueless why it started working for me.

Will this problem be fixed on Fire O.S? I own an Amazon Kindle Fire 7 and there have been updates but the same problem is still happening.

Minecraft 1.5.3 crashing on startup with Wi-Fi on and iOS 11.4.1. Having Wi-Fi off seems to prevent the crash, but turning it on even while the app is already running immediately makes it freeze until it either crashes completely or Wi-Fi is turned off.

migrated

I'm finally able to play the game again with the beta somehow! However, it crashes once or twice before I'm able to play. The white logo screen shows, then crashes, then shows again, and either crashes again or goes straight to the game. I'm still very thankful to be able to see all of my worlds and play in them again for sure. I'm not sure what you did to fix most of the problem, but thank you! I'm finally playing after a few months 😃

migrated

Okay, so the music is definitely the problem. Long story short, I downloaded the music again in the game and it immediately went back to the same behavior.

Jonathan5733

One of my friends recently started having this issue on an Nvidia Shield Tablet K1, surprisingly, it appears to be caused by loading a file with an invalid character in it's name, the file is located in the music pack folder, the character is unknown but a workaround would be to delete the music pack folder and never redownload it until the issue is fixed. I will add more information as my friend and I investigate this issue

[Mojang] Mega_Spud (Jay)

@unknown If you have any further information about the invalid character in the files it would be appreciated, as it seems this is not happening consistently to every player.

(Android Samsung tablet) After seeing some recent comments that the update v1.6.0 works, I updated this morning and it hung the first time but worked on the second attempt (the white screen took longer and the Minecraft logo stayed longer too). It works fine now, with music, and with saved worlds intact. Big smiles today !  I would like to send a HUGE THANK YOU to all involved !  :  )

Lumia 635 patched up to date (windows 10 mobile) running mc bedrock 1.6.14. I had this issue since the update and of course, I'm not very happy-.-

In case of confusion, mc loads the white mincraft banner, transitions to the aquatic background but before any buttons are loaded, the screen goes black.

I noted that menus are 'a thing' at the moment so I'm wondering whether some well intentioned 'person' decided to introduce some menu code that was not fully tested for the entire mc ecosphere?

migrated

Further to my comments earlier, I had another look at the who start up experience and noticed something that seemed like an error fork that might be contribiting to this bug. At the initial mojang banner which may or may not load (that in itself is a departure from normal behaviour - debug / testing code?) there seems to be a pause before the mojang banner goes into landscape mode. That mojang banner only renders as a blank white screen (the landscaped one) prior to the initial minecraft screen with the white background.

Once the white minecraft banner transitions to the aquatic background, the view starts to pan around and then starts shaking and it is somewhere in that area that the issue arises as the screen then just goes completely black.

I have cleared my edge cache, restarted my device, tried joy's date and offline workaround to no avail but I'm hoping that these detailed observations from a seasoned debugger will help you pinpoint the problem guys as it seems to be an issue that has been around too often and long not to be resolved even by 'a noob' 😉

By the way, read seasoned bug hunter rather than debugger above. This jira app doesn't allow a cursor so I'm NOT retyping all that!

And who start up experience should read as whole startup experience.

Following up from this morning, I just tried to start up and again it didn't work at first... it took 5 attempts, kicking back to the Android homescreen each time, before then finally working. I wouldn't normally try 5 attempts but because it was running fine this morning after not doing anything for over a month I kept trying !

I looked quickly through to see any way of changing "storage" but the top box was blank with just two tick boxes next to it on the right, and when clicking on a world there were 5 blank darker grey boxes and one light "dustbin" button in the middle. On "inventory" installed packs it only showed worlds and skinpacks, no music pack, and on "audio", only had volume setting for music.

I saved and quit, and the next time trying to load, it just hung on a black screen without getting to the Minecraft logo on white, the home button on the tablet was unresponsive, and only the power button worked which took it to black screen with the Android notification bar at the top. So I swiped Minecraft to close it from the Apps drawer.

On the next attempt, it took a long time on the white screen, about 45 seconds, then loaded fine. It beeps and a small top modal message box says "Global Resourses Reset. A crash was detected".

Repeated several times with two attempts just going to black screen as above, 6 times it went straight back to the Android homescreen. then loaded on the 7th attempt.

So, quit and tried again, sometimes I pressed the icon on the homescreen to launch, and sometimes tried from the app drawer, and sometimes then swiped the app icon away and tried again from the homescreen icon, sometimes I even turned the tablet upside down to see if it makes a difference but I don't think it did, but after nearly 20 attempts it worked ( ! it became kind of a game in itself )

Again it had the message : "Global Resourses Reset. A crash was detected". Plays fine !

Windows Phone -
Lumia 930-
Windows version - Latest cba just latest read below

So few days ago I was trying to find a decent world , I reinstalled the app a few times to wipe previous ones. During this time the Minecraft App updated to latest. 1.6.14.0

I missed this however, when I launched it the crash happened. So first to crash

The app loads on fresh install.
First popup sign into Xbox live u click X
Then the update notes appear fine. The background is moving behind it.
Moment u pass these notes by hitting continue the app bottoms out so hard you would think it's trumps approval rating.
It crashes to a black or white screen.
Re loading the app after this gets you to the water background but it doesn't move. It flickers then crashes to black screen.

So I'm ok with trouble shooting, I presumed that windows did not wipe app folder, I know this now is not the case. I proceeded todo the following,

Hard reset.
Factory reset
Replacing stock firmware and reloading everything in order with only MC to test.

Each time the above repeats itself. I have lost a day in total trying to fix this.

After all this I started to attempt to access the root Dir for Minecraft however thankfully I saw this post. The problem is with the new Menu screen. The problem is with the latest version worked fine before and tbh I dont care about seeing underwater before I join a world. I care about joining the world.

Please fix this because I'm 100% more window users will be in same boat. Windows phone that is , our boat is syncing fast. See what I did there. It's not great, Facebook is nearly out, Instagram is heading off , we are left with Minecraft and a camera. It's worth it tho , I won't let Cortana die
she saved me from the flood all that time ago. Flynn introduced us and we just had sparks fly

Windows phone 10 btw. Crashes before menu screen. Background doesn't move and started on the last Minecraft update to recap.

Enjoy I will await a update because u guys are epic and have been since alpha

Peace Spill out

Ok, so I'm back again with some good 'other news'. I exported the worlds on my laptop after my phone episodes once I got back and updated mc on there and that seems to work perfectly, however, due to the update issues I am wondering whether realm owners will have a global 3 days extension.

I thought that the issue would have been tracked down and fixed by now but my phone hasn't recieved any updates as yet and i still have the issue on it.

I think a realm extension will go some way to restoring any goodwill lost as the result of these update issues.

Note: There are others talking about this issue in xbox clubs that have not reported it so far so it might be a good idea to be proactive.

I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it again to find one of the worlds I had previously lost. Although, it was an older version of the world, so it didn't have any of the recent changes I had made in June and July. I still don't have one of my favorite worlds back, but it'll do for now. The app is working without the music installed, but I know that re-downloading the music will crash it again. For everyone who really wants to play again, try to backup your worlds to the cloud and/or a computer and reinstall the app (don't try beta), just don't download the music. Hopefully that can be a temporary way to play the game until the bug is fixed. Why all of this trouble was caused by downloading music that was previously in the game, I don't know. Why should we have to download the music, when it should be a given? I'm kind of annoyed that downloading the music led to my worlds getting deleted...

migrated

The main problem for me is the fact that in my MCPE there is nothing to backup world wise...

For me if I go to my Root directory on my Android using File Manager (comes with my LG phone), Games, com.mojang, minecraftWorlds, I have an empty directory (it is also set so show me hidden files, but nothing is there) so I'm afraid to uninstall & reinstall in fear of losing everything 😞

Hi, I opened a ticket and it was deemed a clone of this one...... So I just wanted to double check if anyone is having this issue on PC (Windows 10 version). I have double checked the Event Viewer and the error I am getting is the 0xc0000005 error. I've started my computer up in a clean boot and tried reinstalling the app, making a new profile. All the fixes I've found aren't working. (But the app did work yesterday for a few hours so it just seems very intermittent.)

EDIT: My game gets stuck on the Mojang screen then closes after 5 seconds

I'm absolutely sure that downloading the music is the reason for this bug, at least for my device: Samsung Galaxy s6. The beta has glitched and crashed the game in my experience, and no matter what, it deletes my worlds even when I back them up. I have my xbox live account always connected, but for some reason, it doesn't keep my worlds with it. I have lost two major worlds to this whole situation, with so much progress and work put into them. I'm getting more and more tired of this whole mess everyday. About a month after this bug started happening to me, I found out about the beta, and me being so desperate to play again, I joined the beta. After leaving the beta, all of my worlds were deleted. Honestly, I knew the beta would be a risk, but I had spent so much time waiting just to be able to play the game... I spent a lot of time trying to see if I could get my worlds back, and the videos I watched lost hope for me. "This won't work if your worlds are deleted currently" and "I can show you how to backup your worlds in-game so they won't be deleted". I have no clue when it'll be fixed, but even one month was way too much for me. If it were fixed earlier, I wouldn't have lost one of my favorite worlds permanently. All of my com.mojang and minecraftWorlds folders are empty now, but there were files in them before my worlds were deleted. Please, no one else should have to deal with the same chaos, it needs to be fixed so that it won't happen to someone else in the future...

Just to update from 30th August, my version is still working, with music, but sometimes takes several attempts to load. It never loads first time but does in the end.

It's worth trying before uninstalling anything. Usually takes 7-8 times, and then says "Global Resources Reset. A crash was detected".

Music is on. The only thing that doesn't seem to work now is that the tame ocelots and dogs won't stand up anymore. I think they forgot about us in the month away.

My ZTE Blade X is having these problems and I can't get past the initial start up page. Haven't been able to in the past 3 days actually.

I have this same problem too. For several weeks now the games has crashed on the white Minecraft loading screen. It happens on both Android devices I use; Samsung Galaxy A3 2016 on Android 7.0 and a Lenovo TAB 3 8 Plus on Android 6.0.1. It seems to coincide with the update to version 1.6. Since then the game hasn't loaded once on either device.

migrated

Due to an unrelated incident on my phone (I kept getting the same Emergency Wireless Alert notification on my Android 8.0.0 LG V30+ from back in August when I was near a flood zone) I ended up having to factory wipe my device to clear the alert since my carrier said the issue was on my phone.

I have installed MCPE since the factory wipe and it's working fine (with NO MUSIC) since that seemed to be the killer of this issue. I have lost all of my previous worlds and I'm having to start from scratch once again. 😞

But hey, on the upside version 1.7.0.5 is working without any issues. I don't plan on downloading the music again anytime soon.

Recent Update 1.6.1 - Hotfix did not fix the issue.

Basically to recap

Lumia : 930 -
Minecraft Menu Screen crashing every time , game is 100% unplayable as you cannot get past. It won't display menu at all,

I have tried this on factory reset, full firmware reset using Windows recovery manager. Phone is vanilla and still not working, I tried numerous methods to get it to manually crash so it would reset global recourses. Still no luck

I note in the patch notes that Menu improvements were made at the patch it became a issue 1.6.14? The last one.

I have checked this page + version tracker everyday in hope it would be fixed sooner. I won't give out hope as I know u guys are on ball. I did some googleing and seems others in this boat since last patch. I will provide links to this thread later date.

Also an issue on my OnePlus 3T. Crashes on startup after displaying the Minecraft logo on a white background.

It appears that the issue may be related to loading custom skins. (The default Steve skin and skins from the marketplace do not cause this issue).

I did a test to make sure:

  1. I did a fresh install of Minecraft on my phone (clear app data).

  2. Open Minecraft to make sure it opens properly.

  3. Close Minecraft completely (swipe away Minecraft in the task viewer)

  4. Repeat steps 2-3 three more times to make sure Minecraft loads fine on a fresh install.

  5. Open Minecraft. Change skin to a custom one (using file browser or photo app).

  6. Close Minecraft completely (swipe away Minecraft in the task viewer).

  7. Open Minecraft again, and it crashes back to home screen while displaying the Minecraft logo on a white background.

My phone is running Lineage OS 15.1

The custom skin I load is located in the default Android Downloads folder.

Turning mobile data and/or wifi on and off did not affect the outcomes of my tests. Signing into xbox live also did not affect the outcome.

I downloaded Minecraft from the Google Play Store. The version of Minecraft is 1.6.1

For those experiencing the issue in 1.8.0.8 Beta - there is a new feature of some loading screens that looks like this:

If you are able to add a screenshot of this loading screen at the point at which the game is crashing it will help us to determine what is being loaded at that time, and hopefully what is causing the issue.

Issue started with 1.6 patch - has continued the same thru the last 3 versions exactly.

It's like the game is saying "so long and thanks for all the fish"

At no point does the main menu load at all. It would seem this or ocean background is crashing you out.

I would like an estimate on how long it will take to fix this issue, as I am going insane because even though I have the same edition on my computer, I have to share it with the family and things are getting a little tense. Please list the expected fix date. Thank you!

Dr.Awesome4333

Please do not ask for dates as we do not have that kind of information. When this gets fixed is up to the development team and their effort. I can assure you this issue is one of the top priorities that they are working to fix. However issues can be difficult to diagnose as to the cause, which is why they have implemented some things such as the new splash screen with progress bars to tell when something goes wrong and then pay attention to that part of the code responsible for the failure. This issue is also compounded by different things failing on different devices, so we ask you to please not to task when a bug will be fixed as we just plain don't know.
In the meantime, feel free to comment any new information regarding the issue that you feel is helpful.

    • Breaking News **

After spending the entire weekend sorting this for my nephew, we reached a workaround. I can't really say but it appears that the xBox (M$) integration fubars it!

This is our workaround:

First run only - clear data, cache, etc

Start MC

Log in to xBox

Play MineCraft, la la la

Go to Settings > Profile and sign OUT of xBox

Quit MC

The next time you start MC go through the login, play, logout and it seems to work. Heaven forbid you forget to log out of xBox our you're royally %%$$% and will lose your worlds (unless you pecked and poked about to save them to an external device - something that should be an inbuilt feature!)

Hope this helps others with teary eyed kids trying to get what they paid for working. Until the Mojang/M$ group resolve it this is all you can do.

Cheers, MadDogDean

migrated

Uhm Dean..

That's the problem. You can't get to the main menu in Minecraft and if you reinstall it, it still won't work. I do agree that the integration might have some bearing on this as when you click the sign in button from a new install, you get the crash.

As for cache clearing, not all devices give you that option.

migrated

But just retrying yet another reinstall I notice that the craah happens whether signed in or not and if you try bypassing the sign-in, it crashes yet again. By the way, we still haven't reached the main menu yet on either route but perhaps some others can feed back their experience now.

Soo..

All accepting how game updates work and as always patiently waiting. However it has been since August since I have played the only game I want to play on my device. Looking at the recent reviews in the Microsoft store seems there is many others in the same boat. This has left me in the sad position I feel the need to ask for any news on the next expected update. I notice in the beta changelog it is listed as fixed in one of the later versions (hopefully) and am also hoping we don't jump to a version slightly before this fix is implemented. For arguement sakes I wonder why you didn't just pull the changes that caused this spike in users not able to access the game in the first place or downgrade the windows version to last working but that is not contenuety of progress like you guys work for.

I guess in the most polite possible way of putting it because I know devs get this allot. Is there any update on when to expect a fix for this issue to the Microsoft phone series. I've had to resort to playing Farm Life. It's painful. I wanna /quit

Thanks x

We're still actively working on the problem, but some users have had some success by carrying out a complete reinstall of the game and then not downloading the free music pack (one of the possible causes of the issue.)

Here are the steps needed to carry out a clean installation of the game. Please only do so if you feel able to delete files on your device. You will need access to some sort of file explorer in order to back up your world saves and to delete the game files before reinstalling the game.

Backup any data you don't want to lose, then try the following:

  1. Backup your MinecraftWorlds folder to a separate folder or drive of your choice (if you want to save your worlds) (Device storage > games > com.mojang > minecraftWorlds)

  2. Uninstall Minecraft

  3. Delete the com.mojang folder (Device storage > games > com.mojang)

  4. Reinstall Minecraft

  5. Run Minecraft and if it works restore your MinecraftWorlds folder

Sometimes a clean install of the game will help with these kind of issues.

Just resolved the crash-on-launch "global resources" issue my kid has had for a month or two, on a fully up-to-date iPad. Couldn't get a screenshot of the crash, as Minecraft folded completely as the message was appearing- just got glimpses of it... iOS logs available on request.

Fixed as follows: Using iTunes, saved a copy of the Minecraft "games" folder, duplicated it, and experimented with removing worlds from the minecraftWorlds folder in the copy, then re-adding (thus overwriting) "games" through iTunes. After halving through all 135 words he had, it turned out to be none of them. Replacing the "games" folder with an empty copy did however allow MCPE to launch, though, of course, with no saved preferences.

So I had a look at the preferences stored in "games", and decide the most likely culprit was options.txt. On a hunch, I removed the following lines:

game_skintypefull:c18e65aa-7b21-4637-9b63-8ad63622ef01_Custom
game_lastcustomskinnew:c18e65aa-7b21-4637-9b63-8ad63622ef01_CustomSlim
game_recentskin1:c18e65aa-7b21-4637-9b63-8ad63622ef01_Alex
game_recentskin2:c1edba2a-fd0f-4ab3-9058-0e8b7040c18a_Butterfly
game_recentskin3:c18e65aa-7b21-4637-9b63-8ad63622ef01_Custom

-The only "skin" lines in the file, and the only customisations, I'm aware of. I believe they come from a Girl Skins pack.

Voila. Minecraft working again, all worlds intact. Happy kid, playing Minecraft, instead of watching idiots on YouTube blabbering while playing Minecraft.....

Thanks for the fix! A lifesaver for my kid! And I suddenly got a hug too!

I selected a custom skin, it didn’t show the new skin and still showed the old one
Next time I tried to open the game and every subsequent time, it crashes at the menu screen

If this issue started after using a custom skin, please comment on MCPE-38112.

Guys, the new update worked a treat on my Lumia. Very well done and thanks for the hard work to solve all of those issues, however... Touch control is not working now on my lumia 735. I spawn ok but I canoot break blocks - you know... Like punching wood - which of course is fundemental to the game :/

you want me to open a new issue or do you think this will be a quick fix? Will try reinstalling quickly (if possible) and update you on what happens first though. Just thinking it might be a product of upgrading rather than a bug (scatty morning :/)

All seems good after reinstalling guys, thanks! Since I lost my original worlds with the offending 1.6 update I used a new world and blocks break ok now. I'm just waiting for the realms to update to check that side of things out.

Let me take the opportunity to wish you all a very merry Christmas and an excellent New Year 🙂

The game loads now but I can’t load any custom skins, I have to choose Steve or Alex or one from a skin pack
Not super important, but kinda disappointing
Happy I can play again though

@unknown: There are problems with custom skins in 1.8. If selecting a custom skin crashes your game, see MCPE-38112. If your skin doesn't change right away but changes the next time you start Minecraft, see MCPE-37926. There are also several other reports, so please do a search before creating a new report.

Glad to hear many of you have resolved the problem now! Thanks for your patience!

I was told my problem was a duplicate of this, so I figured I would lay some new evidence on the table. If you have a 3rd party add-on for texture packs that were not updated to 1.8.0 then the game will freeze up upon loading the file.

Also on some servers that I play 1.8.0 made it so that crafting tables crash your game...

1.8 seems to have fixed the issue completely.

Thank you to everyone involved again, and all the best for 2019 !

Closing the ticket as this should be fixed now. For any other users experiencing the issue, please confirm that the issue is not a result of a custom skin (as per MCPE-38112) or any resource pack or mod. You might wish to remove any packs by going to Settings→Storage and removing cached data and packs (please be careful not to accidentally delete your worlds here.)

My son is having the same problem as above. White screen on launching app on PE on Kindle Fire HDX. He does not want to uninstall if possible as he doesn't want to lose his worlds.

My son's ipad has same issues of white screen on launching app and not progressing. I've reinstalled Minecraft and using v 1.11.1 now with iOS 12.2. There are no add-ons.

I'm seeing this issue on a number of iOS devices in my household, three iPads and my iPhone XS. None of them will progress past 2/3 loading bar. Need this fixed!

My daughter's 5th generation iPad running iOS 12.2 can no longer use Minecraft after the latest version was released (1.11.1) a few days ago.  I backed up the data, then deleted the app and reinstalled it, and it still didn't work.  I completely restored the iPad without restoring from a backup and only installed Minecraft on it - it still hangs.  Basically Minecraft no longer works on this iPad with completely default iOS settings and no Minecraft data.

This is still a current issue, please reopen the task.

My son's iPad has the same problem. I reinstalled Minecraft and still did not work. I erased all content and settings, set up the iPad again, and reinstalled Minecraft only. It did not work either. Please fix the bug!

I have the same issue. Using Minecraft 1.11.4 on iOS 12.3.1. It keeps crashing when I try to load it. Sometimes I get past the white loading screen but usually don't. When I do I get a message about how it failed to load resource packs. I've tried offloading the app several times now and nothing. I also tried removing the Xbox app as well as the Nimbus controller app. Still not loading.

I am having the same issue. Minecraft Bedrock will not load at all on Xbox 1. First I get the Mojang logo, then a black screen and then a white screen, then it returns to the xbox main menu launcher. I have restarting xbox a dozen times and it has not fixed the problem.

If you're on iOS, go to “files”, select “Minecraft”, and delete the “XBLStoage” folder. Restart MCPE and it’ll work.

We see Mojang splash screen, then blank white screen, then we are returned to the home screen when Minecraft PE crashes out.

Device: iPad Model MC707B/A (3rd generation) IOS version 9.3.5

This issue has been happening since 3rd Nov 2019.

Many users have reported it here...

We are having the same issue. Minecraft PE was working fine one week ago when suddenly it wasn't working anymore. It happened actually on November 3, 2019. We also see the Mojang screen turning to blank and then crashes.

We took the iPad to the Apple store, did everything we could, including erasing the system and installing it again and uninstalling and installing the application several times. We have IOS 10.3.3.

Very frustrating, my son is very unhappy. Please fix it.

I wish they would hurry up and fix this!!

same problem others are having–launches mojang splash screen, white screen follows, quits to ipad desktop within a few seconds. Was working fine up to a couple weeks ago, don't know if this has something to do with 10/31 "update". Various forums not helpful. You expect glitches from time to time but when you're paying money for these things you also expect a certain amount of service.

migrated

Same problem here still. Just get Mojang screen and it then it closes. Have tried deleting and reinstalling but made no difference.

I get this problem on my iPhone 6 and my iPad 7 gen. BUT I FOUND OUT HOW TO STOP IT FROM CRASHING OFFLINE. all you need to do is LOG OUT OF YOUR MICROSOFT ACCOUNT while online. Then after that you should be able to play offline without it crashing. 🙂 PLS SEE THIS MOJANG. I thing it crashes BECAUSE it is FAILING TO CONNECT TO YOUR MICROSOFT ACCOUNT. hope this helps!!!!!!

@unknown: Thank you for the information, but the issues associated with this ticket were fixed 10 months ago. The recent issues with starting the game on iOS are being tracked on a different ticket, MCPE-54465. If you'd like to leave your comment there, it would be appreciated. Note, however, that while your solution may help lots of people work around the problem, it probably isn't a general solution that solves the problem globally, Some of the known causes have already been fixed in 1.13.1, while the developers are still working on others.
