MC-204047 Lightning bolts still create fire when hitting a lightning rod Works As Intended

Nah, for this specific bug report I also have to switch sides. It works as intended, but no as expected. The patchnotes state it pretty clear, as Percy Walker already said.

For everything interested, there is already an idea submitted in the feedback area that you might want to vote for.

Cheers

@Percy Walker ah okay. tbh I didn't read the patchnotes. I was just assuming, that I can put it on non-fireproof buildings to protect them. I think many others do so.

In that case, this isn't a bug, but most certainly everyone seems to expect the lightning rod to prevent fire completely and not only when there are fireproof blocks next to it. So this might just be an idea on how to improve the rod. When I see some cities and builds, its hard to integrate a fire proof place for the rod every x blocks into the building, without changing the look of it too much.

Theree's also multiple proof of this situation in the latest ilmango video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-81_JCArlw

Though to note the Lightning Rod activating the TNT is intended since the rod gives of a redstone pulse when activated - that's correct and not the point of this bug report. I added since it could've been part of the problem, but as Kevin's video is showing, it clearly isnt.

I don't see this Resolved at any point violine1101!

I thought the lightning rod was intended, so that there can't be a fire outbreak? It could be that the fire spreads to a block near the rod and is protected from the rain from something like leaves an then the fire could spread. If the thunderstorm will end in that moment there would be no rain to put it out as well.

IMO this is a bug since the devs stated more or less: We dont want your house to be burned down by a lightning, so here is a lightning rod and if you install it, it won't happen.

If the fire would always put out by the rain, the problem would not have been there in the first place, so the devs would not have invented the rod?

So please reopen this bug report, or I might just need to write a new one, since this clearly can't come together the way it is right now.
