I confirm it also happens from Intel and for all versions prior to 1.13, it seems as if the drivers did not read lwjgl 2 correctly but were able to do so with lwjgl 3, therefore in the versions with lwjgl 2 the game has the assets completely corrupted while in the versions with lwjgl 3 everything ok. I hope that Mojang, even if they don't want to solve the bug themselves, will notify Intel to at least ask for backwards compatibility, you can't let such a beautiful piece of software go to waste because video card manufacturers don't think about driver backwards compatibility
