Have exactly that same issue running the iOS 9.3.4 with the app stating it is compatible with versions 8 onwards. Have tried every suggestion on google searches, forums and YouTube clips without success. Mojang don’t seem to be responding to the reports. Very frustrating as I’ve paid for the app.
Seems to be no answer on here from Mojang about how to resolve it and I haven’t found a solution after following every piece of advice via google/ YouTube searches. If anyone has a miracle cure please let me know. We also have an older IPad however the iOS we are running is later than the recommended version 8 so it should work. My daughter is desperate to start up this game.

Same. The app won’t open on our iPad mini. It begins to launch showing the Mojang logo then it goes white before exiting the app automatically. Although it is an older iPad, this is still on iOS 9 and the app states it will work on iOS 8 onwards. Have tried re-installing the app, turning iPad off and on, clearing cache and resetting the iPad and other suggestions on here and google. My daughter is devastated! Please fix this bug ASAP.
