Hi Daniel,
Unfortunately, the Realm that this issue was affecting suffered multiple chunk errors and chunk voids shortly after I reported it. I suspect these rollbacks were a precursor to the chunk errors and I am tracking that issue’s progress under MCPE-98789.
As a result of the Realm no longer being used, I think it’s best to close this case as incomplete because I wouldn’t be able to test any potential fixes.
Thanks.
This chunk error/corruption issue has also just happened on a Realm I'm part of. Its a mix of chunks that have regenerated completely different terrain to their surroundings and chunks that have completely voided. I have attached multiple screenshots of the issue.
We started to notice the chunk errors a couple of weeks ago at high distances from world spawn but it was on 14th February 2021 that these errors suddenly appeared close to world spawn and in areas that we have all built structures in. The chunk errors also extend to the End dimension.
We thought that the errors might only occur in rarely visited areas but with them appearing in our usual build spots, that theory doesn't seem to hold.
Hi Umija5895M,
Thanks for your reply, I'll answer the questions below:
The chunks are reverting to their previous state (for example, somone builds an object in the chunk but when they come back to it, it's as if they had never built it).
There aren't any mods installed on the Realm. There are a couple of server-wide ticking areas for commands that are used for things such as standing on a bed to fast forward through the night cycle.
The uploaded picture is showing large spruce trees that were planted and fully grown normally (i.e. with a full canopy of leaves) but when the player returned to the area, the chunk next to the trees had reverted to the previous state, removing some of the leaves and other trees that were there. This is why you can see the bare trunks as well as some floating leaves to the right of the image. Unfortunately, we haven't got any more screenshots because the chunk reverting issue usually wipes all evidence of a construction being there. This is a rare example of an item that has been partially reverted.
Hope this helps.
I’d be grateful if someone could re-open this ticket as the issue is not resolved.
Hi Avoma, unfortunately not, the roll backs seem to happen completely randomly without any players logging on/off or doing a specific action.
@Keith Hicks - The same thing happened to a Realm I was part of. It wasn’t just the co-ordinates that turned off, all the world options would reset to default - such as fire spread turning back on that caused some buildings to burn down before we realised…
It’s worth noting that the world options would reset after the Realm crashed, at which point we would notice that the chunk errors also spread to more places.
