I'm having the same exact problem! Its been happening the same way since the game updated, though I keep getting responses filed under a bug for non-existent pre-existing Microsoft accounts. I'm sure they're both login issues but you're the one of the first people I've seen with the exact same error. Same here, you have the error that looks like this, right? 

I've been struggling with this issue since the update went live. I'm not able to sign into my account point blank. I keep getting a "Failed to Login" issue. It should also be noted that my account is not one that has been linked with Minecraft before.
