This has happened to me also. Looked weird, so I reported it. Until now I saw that 11 people reported this one problem including me....

No, In my other worlds, when I turn it to peaceful more animals spawn. Peaceful is to remove all "mobs" as in all monsters. Even when my world is not on peaceful, there are still no animals.
