I think this is related to your system (hardware or software). I had this issue before but fixed after some updates and don't know what exactly causes this issue.

I'm using Archlinux, GNOME/i3wm, OpenJDK 1.8.0_212.

Also mobs can't jump when touching the block.

I have this issue too.

I think I found a solution.

Open this file (or create if not exists)

/etc/openal/alsoft.conf

and change drivers to this

drivers=alsa
