Totally agree, that's the real problem, in fact I think that was the reason they made iron golems not attack creepers. Basically creepers aren't supposed to explode unless near the player. If another entity aggros them by hitting them, they can head towards them to retaliate, but if they explode without the player being nearby, that goes against the "if anything bad happens, it's the players fault" philosophy that Mojang is following.

Wow @Alex Mehne and @Galaxy this is extremely extensive feedback suggestion! I'd never noticed this doc before, good job, really hope mojang reads and considers! Unfortunately I'm not the original author of that feedback post either, I just put the link in here. I tried commenting it in the feedback site, but I'm not sure if you comment on the feedback post what external links are allowed, so we'll see if the comment gets approved. Hopefully the Feedback site gets better, feels really inaccessible these days unfortunately.

Hope they fix it, I had a survival base in a mushroom island for this very purpose and was sad to learn phantoms could still spawn. I didn't want to sleep to increase chance of thunderstorms. Keeping cats around helped with the phantoms, but you just had to have them sit somewhere, cause having them follow you could be a problem everytime you leave the base. I was even sadder to find out that having ocelots around the base that could rome around without being tied to the player also wouldn't help because on Java, phantoms don't scare ocelots. Another parity bug MC-200613 I hope they fix, but the bug was rejected because the parity was introduced before 1.15?? Weird reason to reject bug. Pls vote for this issue too. (It's funny, the Mod who denied it was also named Galaxy by pure coincidence)

@Galaxy_2Alex , I didn't mean to post this as a parity bug, rather an inconsistency between similar mobs. Please reconsider marking it invalid.

Does the fact that this bug doesn't affect bedrock make it a parity bug?

It even happens even if the Snow Golem is inside a walled area, and then the creeper will blow a hole in the wall, adding more problems.

I can confirm this issue. I generated my world in 1.15.2 but I've been playing with the latest nether update snapshots as they come out. When I explore mineshafts, I often see cave spiders, and when they try to chase me down a hallway with those oak fence "supports" on the side, the spiders often hit the fence posts, and instead of pathfinding between them, they climb up them and get stuck in the ceiling. I have noticed this almost consistently when dealing with spiders, if I get behind something that the spider can climb up, with a block on top (doesn't have to be a corner), and I stand directly behind it while they try to follow me, they get stuck.

How to recreate: (I was using 20w16a of the nether update when I did this, but have noticed the issue since 1.15.2)

1) Create a superflat world with bedrock and more than 40 layers of dirt (so slimes don't spawn) without structures on creative mode.

2) Set gamerule doMobSpawning to false.

3) Build an upside-down L out of dirt blocks, 3 blocks tall, and one block out (see picture "2020-04-19_10.16.14" that I attached)

4) Spawn a spider or cave spider with a spawn egg, set the gamemode to survival, and time to night so the spider will follow you. (when I did this with the cave spider, I also gave myself an enchanted golden apple and a potion of night vision)

5) With the spider following you, run away from the L in the direction it is pointing. Once you are twenty or so blocks away, turn around and go back to the L and hide right behind it so the spider approaches the L on the side where the L is pointing.

6) When the spider reaches the L, it will climb up the dirt blocks and get stuck once it hits the top block of the L. You can then move and walk around, it is still dark and the spider looks at you and turns its body like it wants to follow you, but can't. It is stuck in the ceiling somehow.

Note 1: When I save and exit the world, and then reload it, the spider is back on the ground and can follow me like normal. But, it will get stuck again if I do the same thing.

Note 2: Hitting the spider so the knockback eventually pushes it out of the block will also get it unstuck. You can also push it out with the player, but the spider is unable to attack or poison no matter how close I get or even push it, until it gets unstuck.

Note 3: This also works if the ceiling block is a slab, or if the tower is 20+ blocks tall

In the meantime while this gets fixed, exploring mineshafts is much easier, you can even use this bug to make clearing out cave spider spawners a breeze.

Please fix, thanks mojang!

edit: I'm running Windows 10 and I always install the latest updates.
