REALMS-4224 So it might literally just be a server-side issue whenever there are a ton of people trying to login, haha.

I will say later it started working again and my friends and I played uninterrupted for about 3 hours.

The same freeze effect is happening to me. I'm on 1.16.5, playing on a Realm.

Edit: Cool awesome it even happens when I am adjusting game settings from the main menu.
