Wireshark on the client also doesn't hint at why the server sent a "broken packet". In the screenshot, the client had the "server sent a broken packet" error right before all those "Message fragment x/19" section. Gut feeling is that this may just be something inherent when using UDP connections vs TCP connections since UDP is really not a great protocol for ensure all packets make it to the client. I haven't tested this out on Java, but I believe they don't get this same error using that edition due to the network protocol differences and TCP's inherit retry attempts if a packet goes missing.

I am having this same issue after upgrading to 1.20.40 and 1.20.50 Minecraft servers. Ever since that the 12.40 upgrade, random users will randomly disconnect, and sometime when loading into the world, it will say "Server sent a broken packet". I am the server owner and performed the upgrade on my own internal server. There are no logs indicating how a "broken packet" could have been sent
