Thought I'd add my experience to help with the bug.
I use an iPad Pro (3rd Gen) with a button size of 58, and discovered that half the right d-pad button worked. If I pressed the inner half, it wouldn't register, but the outer half worked just fine.
I've tried as many sizes as I can, and discovered that anything below 65 works like this, where only half the button works. 65-70 works sometimes, but will sometimes just break, and anything above 70 just flat-out won't work.
Other people are mentioning the left button also not working, but it seems to work just fine for me.
