try putting the villager in a tight space. add the bed and hope that it connects to it. For me on java I haven't experienced this.

this is in peaceful mode just realized once i started a new world. : )

This might be a feature or bug as I could trade but when removing workstation, they only put their screen on display for a split second. hope this helps! 🙂
