Experiencing the same issue. Win 10. latest build. This problem started with 1.0 or shortly before. Note that in worlds where I had multiple nether portals working as expected before, such that you could enter the nether thru a portal, travel in the nether and exit a different portal to a different location in overworld, now all portals in overworld lead to the first portal created in the nether, and exiting the nether thru that portal puts you back in the same spot in overworld. No fun.
In MC win10 i went options>manage xbox> xbox account (which launches the xbox app. )
signed out of xbox account from there. launched mc, and i was prompted to sign in, did so, and the game worked fine.
have played several hours since, no sign of trouble. as i said before, my ms account password had changed . . . not on that pc so thats a speculation of how the bug might have been triggered.
I do have another pc which had the problem. haven't tried there, i will attempt the no network fix again.
....no network workaround worked again (reboot without network is required) on pc#2 this time i was not automatically prompted by the game to sign in. played for a minute or two, did and orderly reboot of the machine with network plugged in again. original problem returns. rebooted without network again, was able to play. manually signed into xbox (requires pluging in network) was able to continue playing. Onedrive was also bugging me to sign in, so i signed in to that too, note: i use a different xbox account on this one, for lan games.
however, in this case the problem is not resolved. cannot reboot with network connected and continue playing. is it required that xbox account also equals microsoft account?
hey now we are getting somewhere. disabling wifi did no good until i rebooted. I rebooted with network disabled, started minecraft. re-enabled wifi and the xbox login screen pops up. logged in again with correct microsoft account credentials (my password might have changed to trigger the problem) and now it runs. So the problem lies in how it handles (or fails at handling) microsoft account authentication?
These steps fixed this problem on this PC. It continued to work with network on after a normal boot.

same issue after version 15 on two very different win 10 pc's an asus laptop and lenovo pc. fails to launch now every single time. no mods, no 3rd party, no matter if network is connected or not. note: this din't happen right away was able to play on version .15 for a few days then kaput. ready to give up completely.
the symptoms are very similar to a .14 problem that had a workaround of forcing to use the intel onboard drivers instead of the graphics card. cant remember the workaround or how to turn it off? please advise.
need more info? ask.
Same issue here. as of 0.15.0, it crashes on startup. sometimes it gets past the mojang screen to briefly show the menu sometimes not.

I can also confirm this was a problem. When a portal was damaged, say by a ghast, it would create new portal in overworld after being repaired, and after that things got messy, travel thru the portal seemed to create new exit portals at the same location in both directions. This behavior disapeared in 1.0 and replaced by the arguably worse behavior noted in MCPE-19696
