I downloaded the most recent build for 0.15.0 Build 1 and now when i try to launch the game, it gives me the, "unfortunately Minecraft has stopped working" error.
-update 4/15/16
Build 2 for 0.15.0 realms is still crashing on launch. I don't believe it's a play store issue as I've tried everything and continues to fail to launch.
-Clearing the cache on Google play store
-Clearing the cache on Google play services
-Uninstalling and reinstalling
These steps have not fixed the problem.
Edit: Please remove all 3rd party mods for minecraft, all 3rd party texture packs and any non-naitive app stores through which Minecraft may have been downloaded. If you're still crashing, disconnect your device from any network (i.e. airplane mode or disable wifi, cellular, ethernet, etc.) and try again. If you're not crashing any more, comment on MCPE-14727 - the issue is likely related to xbl login. If you're still crashing when launching the game, you've found the right ticket: please provide your device make and model, operating system and version. If you're running a desktop PC, add your graphics card make, model and driver version.

@Jan A new 0.15.0 came out for Beta Testing.

I was probably reopened since it affects the latest build version.
.
I assume that it has to do with Realms, since the issue only happens to all 0.15 build versions, and the very first 0.15 build version (Realms Alpha build 1) has no difference between 0.14 aside from Realms.

This issue was reported 2 months ago.. And mojang released 3 versions and it still doesnt seem to be fixed.... So should i wait for 0.16 or 0.17?

No @Jan, there was a new release today that introduced some new features: Minecraft: Pocket Edition 0.15.0 Build 1 Changelog.

Thanks for transferring to this thread.
As stated 0.15.0 is not working on our Hudl2. I have now removed the version from Amazon Appstore and replaced it with a Google Play version. This seems to have worked.
Thanks

Playing on Windows 10. Custom-built PC.
CTD occurs during opening Mojang screen. Can't even access main menu. No pop-ups/error messages appear.
EDIT: Probably should have tried again before posting this. The game is, in fact, now working. Nothing changed on my end between yesterday (when the issue kept recurring) and today. Maybe an update was released? Whatever the case, I can no longer recreate the issue.

Been having this issue as well on my iPhone 6s (iOS 9.3.2) with one of my bigger worlds. I deactivated fancy graphics and minimized the render distance which seems to help some.

No, thank you. Also, this is not a forum. Discussion should not take place here, except about the ticket.

I'm not sure if this is where I should post this, sorry if it's not, I haven't done this before. I have an Asus Transformer TF101 version 4.0.3. I updated Minecraft PE last week to version .15 and I can no longer open it. When I go to open it I get a black screen for a few seconds and then it kicks me out. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Update to 0-15-0: Minecraft does not start. Black screen for approx. 20sec then back to home screen. Occurred on Toshiba AT100 (2 off) and Samsung Galaxy Tab S10.5. Did a factory reset of Galaxy Tab S (for another reason) and loaded Minecraft from Google Play store. Still did not work and the directory "Game" was not even created. I have attached the details of the Galaxy S10.5 for software versions. Note that this issue is wide spread as per Minecraftforum - Support - Minecraft Pocket Edition Support - Can't Open Mcpe 0.15.0/0.15.1

Similar launch bug for me on Windows 10 Beta. Game will randomly crash during launch, usually during white Mojang splash screen, sometimes rarely makes it to the main menu and then crashes. Only happens on non primary accounts on computer - runs fine on my primary account. Dxdiag shows no problems, which seems correct since the game runs fine on primary account. Based upon proc monitor logs, crash appears to be randomly happening...no two or three crashes happen at same point in app loading process.

@unknown Are any of the non-primary accounts administrators? Can you try from a non-primary account that has admin privileges?

Yes - already tried that. I made both of my 2 children's accounts admin accounts, still will not work. Also created a new temporary local account (not tied to a Microsoft account) as an admin account, and it would not work. Also attempted to grant full access rights to the package directory within ProgramFiles subdirectory to all user accounts with no resolution.
Most recent exception log shows a fault in twinapi.appcore.dll, under version 0.15.1.0 of Minecraft.Win10.DX11.exe. Parallel error log seems to indicate something with combase.dll. The WER report doesn't show much information that looks useful, besides reporting the friendly event name as "Stopped working", and whether useful information or not, a State[0] key/value pair of "Transport.DoneStage1 / 1 (true?)".

Can't believe this bug still not fixed in Windows 10 Edition. I can't open the game in more than a month. But it works perfectly on my smartphone.

I have the same problem. I have a dell venue 7. no way to play the game since updating to 0.15.0. it has been updated to 0.15.1.2, no luck still stuck.

I also have had this problem on my Dell tablet since the 0.15.0 update. I suspect it has something to do with the tablet's processor architecture being x86, not ARM, but why this update broke it when 0.14.x was running just fine, I dunno. Is there any way to roll back to 0.14?

I doubt it doesn't work because of processor architecture. I have two different PCs (Intel x64 and AMD x86) on Windows 10, on both Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition crashes. But on my friend's PC it works fine. I can't understand this.

Just an idea. I was thinking of Android devices, not Win10, since the 0.15 updates have worked well on my phone's Snapdragon ARM, but never on my tablet's Intel x86...

Please remove all external 3rd party mods and 3rd party texture packs and let us know if that fixes this issue for anyone. Not a magic bullet, but we are still trying to identify root causes here.

Win10, version 0.15.0 mcpe, no mods/texture. Intel I5 dual core; Nvidia 540m updated to latest driver (368.39) (also tried integrated Intel HD). Still crash in flightmode (or disabled WiFi drivers etc). Also tried different accounts.
No fix; still crash.

same issue after version 15 on two very different win 10 pc's an asus laptop and lenovo pc. fails to launch now every single time. no mods, no 3rd party, no matter if network is connected or not. note: this din't happen right away was able to play on version .15 for a few days then kaput. ready to give up completely.
the symptoms are very similar to a .14 problem that had a workaround of forcing to use the intel onboard drivers instead of the graphics card. cant remember the workaround or how to turn it off? please advise.
need more info? ask.

Win10, version 0.15.1 MCPE, no mods/textures (stock). Intel i7, with nVidia 760Ti updated to most recent drivers. For what it's worth, I just rapidly logged into my son's admin account, disabled the Ethernet adapter manually so the computer was offline, and the game appears to launch correctly, although I didn't wander about in a world for any length of time. I re-enabled the Ethernet adapter and relaunched the game, and it made it to the title menu, then froze for about 15-20 seconds before crashing to desktop. A further re-launch won't even get to that point.
In my case, definitely seems that internet access is a key indicator on sub accounts other than the primary account. However, not sure how to script disabling network access for now so kids can keep playing.

hey now we are getting somewhere. disabling wifi did no good until i rebooted. I rebooted with network disabled, started minecraft. re-enabled wifi and the xbox login screen pops up. logged in again with correct microsoft account credentials (my password might have changed to trigger the problem) and now it runs. So the problem lies in how it handles (or fails at handling) microsoft account authentication?
These steps fixed this problem on this PC. It continued to work with network on after a normal boot.

On SamsungGT-P7500 ran "Android Debugger & searched for MCPE. Attempted to start Minecraft twice with the results of the search shown on the attached screen shot. Unfortunately the record function on this debugger does not work so could only use the search function. May be you could suggest another search word which would help trace the issue.

May I suggest this issue be split into two issues as the original issue related to an Androld device but there are comments relating to Windows 10 devices. It is confusing for me as the solutions being offered for W10 have no relationship to the Android problem.

Ideal pragmatist and others, if disabling network connections worked, get back into mcpe and in the options, click sign out of xbox live. So long as you don't try to sign in again, mcpe should not query xbox live and the game shouldn't crash (at least not for this bug...). You can still play multiplayer without xbox live, but only LAN and maybe some external servers. Please let us know if mcpe still crashes with xbox login turned off and your network on.

Tried all the disabling of network and logout (even from Store etc.) Still cant make it past white splash screen.
Did however notice a new event-log file (PCA2) that contains some unknown symbols. Attached the 3 files for reference

The comment by rplatham is difficult for me to see if it applies to Windows 10 Beta edition. I tried loading the game without a network connection, which worked to load the game, but there doesn't appear to be any menu option under "Options" to sign out of Xbox Live. I see menu options to "Manage Xbox Live", and "Gamertag", but neither of those reference logging out of XBox Live. In addition, neither of those even load when not on the network.

Sorry Jason, the menu item might not be there for win10. It might be at the bottom of the list like on iOS.

In MC win10 i went options>manage xbox> xbox account (which launches the xbox app. )
signed out of xbox account from there. launched mc, and i was prompted to sign in, did so, and the game worked fine.
have played several hours since, no sign of trouble. as i said before, my ms account password had changed . . . not on that pc so thats a speculation of how the bug might have been triggered.
I do have another pc which had the problem. haven't tried there, i will attempt the no network fix again.
....no network workaround worked again (reboot without network is required) on pc#2 this time i was not automatically prompted by the game to sign in. played for a minute or two, did and orderly reboot of the machine with network plugged in again. original problem returns. rebooted without network again, was able to play. manually signed into xbox (requires pluging in network) was able to continue playing. Onedrive was also bugging me to sign in, so i signed in to that too, note: i use a different xbox account on this one, for lan games.
however, in this case the problem is not resolved. cannot reboot with network connected and continue playing. is it required that xbox account also equals microsoft account?

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 (GT-P5210). All available System Updates installed (Android 4.4.2 / Kernal 3.4.34-4078681). I have exactly the same problem. I've just purchased MCPE V0.15.2 from Amazon and installed it on my brand new Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. When I try to launch MCPE the screen goes black for approx. 3 seconds and then a message box informs me that 'Unfortunately, Minecraft - Pocket Edition has stopped' and clicking OK dumps me back to the Android Desktop. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I've tried turning off WiFi, I've checked all available system updates have been installed and I've even reset my tablet back to factory defaults and reinstalled but still I can't launch MCPE. PLEASE HELP!!!

Acer Iconia Tablet A200, Android 4.0.3, Kernel-Version 2.6.39.4+, MCPE Version 0.15.4
Does not work. After starting - black screen for 10 sec - no error message - return to the start page.
I'm disappointed and really annoyed - have been built so many worlds. Before 0.15.0 everything worked fine.

So issue MCPE-15986 has been resolved as being a duplicate of this issue. Seems unlikely as most of the comments here have to do with Windows 10 rather than Android versions and most comments, including the main problem description, discuss error messages and crash information. The comments on MCPE-15986 (and a few here) describe a problem where MCPE does not start up at all. Nothing happens except the screen goes blank and then returns to the previous screen.
My system is Samsung GT-P7510 with Android 4.0.4.

Minecraft PE 0.15.4 will not launch on Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 running Android 4.4.2. Have tried on two identical devices and always get error, "Unfortunately minecraft pocket edition has stopped." Have tried uninstalling/reinstalling app, clearing cache and app data, and I even did a factory reset on the device. Still get same error at startup. I have a third Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 and everything is working fine. Interesting that I still get crash after factory reset of tablet. Some very upset kids at my house as they spent their own money to get this app. See attached screenshot: https://bugs.mojang.com/secure/attachment/122656/Screenshot_2016-08-03-18-02-13%20%282%29.png

I have experienced the black screen problem on my son's android tablet. When I click to open the game it goes to a black screen for 9-10 seconds, then goes back to the android home screen. The game will not play at all. He does not have any mods installed. The second we updated to the 0.15.0/1/2/3/4 version it stopped working. Uninstalled and then reinstalled several times. Still does not work. I do not get any error message, just a black screen. Everything was fine until the 0.15.0 update.
This is on a Nextbook, Model NXA8QC116, Android 5.0, Kernel version 3.10.20-x86_64_byt
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi - same issue I think. Kurio Tab running Android 4.4.2. Minecraft running fine until upgrade to a 0.15.x version - can't exactly remember which one. As soon as upgraded it crashes 'unfortunately - minecraft has stopped working'. Tried: uninstalling and reinstalling, clearing cache (on Amazon Appstore and Minecraft app). Did a roll back to 0.14.3 and it loaded fine, but doesn't load any 0.15 versions. Incidentally Minecraft PE runs fine on my phone (Wileyfox Swift running android 6.0.1). Be amazing if you could sort this! His tab is effectively a fulltime minecraft device, so bit of a problem! Had hoped updates would have fixed it but nothing changed so now asking for help!

Guys, I figured out the issue and the solution. Why an idiot like me can solve this issue and not the giant company of professionals like mojang can't.
First the issue is caused by a texture pack you were using when you updated to minecraft. 0.15. I found this out by using a program to view the logcat, and found that minecraft was attempting to load the texture pack, even after Uninstalling and installing minecraft (and blocklauncher).
The solution is removing all the remnants of the texture pack and restoring the default textures... Go to Google play store, download and install "texture pack for minecraft pe" by Proton G. Open the program, click delete texture, click activate default texture packs, open minecraft, fixed
Guys, I figured out the issue and the solution. Why an idiot like me can solve this issue and not the giant company of professionals like mojang can't.

Sadly that doesn't do it for me, Ethan. I get "I couldn't find folder for texture packs", which is either because I deinstalled MCPE or manually deleted related folders at an early stage in trying to fix this.

Lucky you, Ethan - thank you for this solution.
Unfortunately I have the same problem as Catriona Black. When I try to uninstall the textures, I get the same answer of "Texture Packs for Minecraft PE". It says, it can't find folder for texture packs.
Too bad. I have to wait on and hope.

It was proposed as a solution to remove all texture packs back in June on MCPE-15986. 15986 is the issue that was resolved as being a duplicate of this issue. There are those that tried that fix back in June and found it did nothing, and there are those, like me, that never had any third party texture packs installed. So I am glad for you Ethan, but your solution doesn't work for others of us. Thanks anyway for trying.

Sorry it's still not working for some of you, it's super frustrating!
I recommend you debug the issue yourselves (which is what led me to my solution. Download "catlog" from play store (sorry the program only works if ur rooted), fire up minecraft, wait for the error message, fire up catlog, and search for majong, read the error... Hopefully that will lead to at least you knowing what's going on, which for me was the remnants of an old texture pack

I've had this same problem since July 20th, my case wss closed as "resolved" because it was a duplicate of this, still nothing works for me.

Followed the suggestion from Ethan to download catlog. Attached is the text log related to mojang. Doesn't tell me anything but perhaps you folks can tell what is going wrong.

Mods: When will there be any newer additional "steps you can try" being provided by MOJANG support posted to this bug thread number???
This is getting ridiculous the amount of wait time being left "in-limbo" without any communications as to whether or not any of your staff is even looking into this issue, first of all... and then... possible documents/notes posted to this thread annotating detailed steps the tech-savvy among us can try to correct the issue.
For starters... you could post instructions for how to go about ensuring that you've checked for and eradicated all possible places and file locations where 3rd party texture packs may be located in the file system?
In response to this issue... I also setup my kids tablet so that it is associated with its own Google Play account based off his very own email address, in order to further isolate his tablet from my Visa accounts.
As such, I just now had to buy this App again for his device. Which I did, no big whoop.
But 0.15.6 is now installed... and as far as I can tell by going thru every app in the Apps manager... I've uninstalled (before re-purchasing) any and everything that even remotely resemble something Minecraft-related that was not actually Minecraft PE itself. And STILL... no go.
You invoke... there's some number of full seconds where screen is black... then Boop! right back out to home screen. No msgs of any kind.
At the very least can you post-up instructions for us non-root'd users for how to go about inspecting whichever event logs are in the OS for this?
I don't happen to develop in Android OS (yet). But I'll betcha money I can spot something that looks off in a log. Been using computers since C-64. Been coding since '92.
Just give me some direction here.

Gary which device is your child using? How much space is avaliable on the tablet? I think that makes the difference. MCPE use to take 23MB,then 32, now it's 75MB or something like that. Try to free up as much space and see if that help? Also depending on the devices CPU and processor it might not be compatible with the update? I know the newer versions of android 6.0.1 are not compatible with most apps too.

We have Sony S tablets (both now not accessing MCPE) - Android version 4.0.3.
Ever since the update introducing realms, whenever we try to open MCPE it hangs on a black screen for a few seconds then goes back to the home screen.
We have not been able to open it for over 3 months now and my children are getting rather upset.
I am too scared to update the iPad in case it stops working also!!
The last version to work on the Sony S tablets was v0.14.3.... every update since that version has resulted in the black screen/not opening problem.
I have installed every update so far, and tried all the suggestions on various threads, but nothing is yet to work. Latest update installed this morning on the Sony S tablet was v0.15.6.

I doubt it's an issue of RAM. He can run Clumsy Ninja and it's file size is like twice as big as MCPE. Monster Dash by HalfBrick is also greater in size. Plus, when I went thru his device I went to town and yanked everything that didn't look like any of the apps I know he uses with any regularity. Indeed there were multiple MCPE add-on mod apps though. As I said before, I specifically went thru and yanked any and all of those.
But... if there is the possibility that the uninstalls leave behind files that might affect this issue... that was why I asked if the support staff would be so kind as to post up a doc showing which folders to look for and wipe-clean, I'd be more than happy to do so. If requested, I'd even document any findings in them, if they felt it might help ID whats the cause.
"Do it for the kids man, do it for the kids!". Support staff... please understand this issue is depriving all these kids of one of their favorite past-times.
Big thanks to Nat Thomas for noting which was last version to work. Hopefully then can look at their Build/Revision history and get an idea for what new coding changes might be throwing this off. Another user talked about it seems to be since the introduction of the Realms feature related to ?XBOX Live?

My child has had the same issue since 0.15.0 was released. For the past two months I have uninstalled, reinstalled, deleted skins, opened up space, etc. to no avail. We have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4, Model, SM-T230NU, Android Version 4.4.2.
Black screen.... Unfortunately, Minecraft Pocket Edition has stopped.
Please help. Is there a way to reinstall the 0.14 version?

Hi, My daughter is having the same issue. We purchased the game about a week ago and it was working fine until it updated. She hasn't been able to play it since. She has a Samsung tab 4. It's appalling that based on this thread it seems to have been going on for months. If I would have known I would not have a lowed my daughter to use her birthday money to pay for it. We have tried uninstalling,etc...

Come on Mojang. This has been an issue for many since 0.15.0. Seemingly common characteristics are folks running Android 4.x.x. People are willing to send logs and help troubleshoot. Unfortunately the 0.16.x beta versions still do not run for many. We have bought this app 3 times in our family - 2 of the tablets will not run it.
On my daughter's Motorola Xoom running 4.4.4, the first anomaly to note in the logs shows issues accessing an unavailable shared library xperiaplaycertified and then numerous errors associated with /data/app-lib/com.mojang.minecraftpe-1/libminecraftpe.so

Inspecting logs during startup attempt of MCPE the following lines caught my eye:
D/dalvikvm( 2201): Added shared lib /data/data/com.mojang.minecraftpe/lib/libgnustl_shared.so
D/dalvikvm( 2201): No JNI_OnLoad found in /data/data/com.mojang.minecraftpe/lib/libgnustl_shared.so ... skipping init
D/MCPE ( 2201): OVRfmod library not found

D/dalvikvm ( 2201): Trying to load lib /data/data/com.mojang.minecraftpe/lib/libminecraftpe.so
F/libc ( 2201): Fatal signal 4 (SIGILL) at <such and such address> (code=1)
.
.
.
then a bunch of I/DEBUG messages for process id (82) which are about pid 2201
.
.
then..
V/NvAudioALSA (86): Closing ALSA device!, curDev 0x2, curMode 0
I/BootReceiver (143): Copying /data/tombstones/tombstone_03 to DropBox (SYSTEM_TOMBSTONE)
Could this be some kind of scenario where a different version of a common shared library becomes installed into the Andriod device by another vendors software and messes isht up? Much like "DLL-Hell" in Windows?
Why is it telling me OVRfmod library not found? and OVRplatform library not found?
Could it be that needed components are not being deployed into your installer app?

OK... so it looks like when the app is initializing (on my device) it can't find the libraries for the FMOD platform-independant audio libraries.
What's a quick and easy way for me to get these libraries installed back onto this device that I could perhaps invoke from Google Play Store?
Which folder should the fmodex.jar file be residing in... in order for the app to be able to see it and load it in on startup?

Can't tell if anyone is looking at this problem. Haven't seen any feedback from Mojang. Just in case someone is looking, I thought I would submit a couple of additional crash dumps. I don't know enough to tell what is going on but perhaps someone from Mojang can. These were on 0.15.7.

I am doing my best, but as you are already aware, keeping blackscreen fails and crashes sorted out has not happened very effectively. @unknown I've pinged the devs about FMOD issues before, I'll add yours to the list. I am suspicious of them too. As far as I can tell, OVRfmod is a FMOD for Oculus Rift VR.
As early as 0.13.1 we were seeing FMOD issues. See this comment for example: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCPE-8332?focusedCommentId=279463&page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel#comment-279463
Notably:
I/dalvikvm( 4275): Could not find method android.media.AudioManager.getProperty, referenced from method org.fmod.FMOD.getOutputBlockSize

Hi Gary, I agree with you - and I will be one of those parents you are writing about.
Perhaps I would not have posted such a comment just on the day, where for the first time since many weeks someone of Mojang seems to take notice and to begin to care about it.
By the way: Same problem still, even with version 15.7: black screen for a few seconds, than return to the previous screen without any further comment. Boring.
I am still somewhat optimistic.
Device: Acer Iconia A200, Android 4.0.3

Updated to 0.15.9 on two android devices:
Samsung Galaxy S5, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor (ARM), Android OS version 5.0, Minecraft PE version 0.15.9, never any 3rd party mods etc. β WORKS FINE
Dell Venue 7 3740, Intel Atom z3460 dual-core processor (x86), Android OS version 4.4.4, Minecraft PE version 0.15.9, never any 3rd party mods etc. β STILL CRASHES (upon launching app, immediately crashes "Unfortunately, Minecraft - Pocket Edition has stopped.")
This has been a major problem since JUNE. What's being done to make it right? How long are we going to have to wait to have a usable version of this software we paid for? It's really frustrating.

Hi Mods, something that might help in terms of where to start looking at a fix: in previous versions, I was able to find the Mojang games folder on my Tablet...now with 0.15.xx I can't find anything at all. I've downloaded the game alright, but I'm not even sure if the game is installed (other than the screen shortcut which is supposed to launch the game).
Not sure if it's relevant at all, but it's a noticeable change from previous editions.

Same here. The game wouldn't start ("minecraft has stopped workin' ") since some version on summer 2016 (but I definitely know that 0.14.3 works for me). Currently I have 0.15.10 and it doesn't work as well. My device is Acer Iconia tab a500, android version is 4.4.4. The game doesn't work no matter what runtime I use, either dalvik or ART. I even completely reinstalled android (it became laggy anyway). Here's my logcat: http://pastebin.com/c3gGV1k4 (Same as Gary D. Hart's BTW)

Finally found this.
Ours stopped working on as Asus Nexus 7 on Christmas 2015. Replaced it with an Acer Iconic tab8. 2nd Nexus crashed so bought another tab8, MCPE failed to load. Two weeks later (update) it failed on the 1st Acer as well. I tried MCPE on my Nexus 6P (goes right to Xbox live screen and plays). Bought a cheap Moto E (phone) and all updates work, latest 0.16.0.5 still doesn't launch on the kid's Acer A1-840FHD running 4.4.2
What can I do to help? Our MCPE was purchased through Amazon

Tablet model:
ASUS K013
Android 4.4.2
I have attempted the following without success:
updating the game
uninstalling (incl all root files) then re-installing
completely restoring the tablet to factory settings without using back up files (i.e. totally clean tablet)
turning WIFI off when running

We gave up waiting and bought a new tablet. Which is what I presume they are counting on.
So, when I mentioned in July that I suspected it had to do with processor architecture, I might have been in the right ballpark. On a similar bug report β MCPE-8332 Minecraft PE not starting (blackscreen) β the problem seems to be caused by some chipsets that do not include the NEON extension. Could this be what's causing these devices to be unable to run MCPE 0.15.x and up? Pertinent comments from MCPE-8332 are quoted below.

Ok, so we reproduced the issue on the Motorola Xoom, and I have investigated this thoroughly for the last 2 days. Unfortunately I have some bad news. The problem is caused by the fact that a small number of chipsets used for Android devices (like the Nvidia Tegra 2) does not include the Neon extension. About 6 months ago we made a number of major architectural changes that means we rely on Neon for a number of things β including making the game run faster, to compensate for the performance cost of all the added features.
While we will investigate further if we can fix this, itβs a very large task to take on, and itβs would risk destabilizing the game for everyone else. I think it would take at least 3 months from now to have a verified, fully tested fix. Iβm not sure if it is even possible for us to fix it at all, but I will be trying.

I've updated the ticket description so this information about Neon is easy to find. For those experiencing a Blackscreen crash at startup of MCPE, please check to see if your device supports Neon. As in Soren Hannibal's comments above, MCPE on Android devices requires a processor that supports Neon and will crash to a blackscreen if your processor does not support Neon.
You can check if your device supports Neon by installing a system checking tool and looking at the supported features for your processor. I recommend SysCheck by Christopher Moeller because it is free, simple and because you can see if your processor supports Neon on the very first page, just like in this screenshot (ugly red circling added for emphasis).
If you are still getting a Blackscreen crash at start up of MCPE and you have confirmed that your device supports Neon, then please create a new ticket and mention that you've already checked for Neon support. We really hope this is the only reason for a blackscreen crash at start up, but if there are more bugs, we'd like to figure them out and squash them too."

MCPE 0.16.2 on two devices:
Samsung Galaxy S5, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor (ARM), SUPPORTS NEON, Android OS version 5.0, Minecraft PE version 0.16.0, never any 3rd party mods etc. β RUNS
Dell Venue 7 3740, Intel Atom z3460 dual-core processor (x86), DOES NOT SUPPORT NEON, Android OS version 4.4.4, Minecraft PE version 0.16.0, never any 3rd party mods etc. β STILL CRASHES (upon launching app, immediately crashes "Unfortunately, Minecraft - Pocket Edition has stopped."). I think you hit the nail on the head with this one.
Sure enough... in this message forum thread... I read Acer Iconia A500. (Among MANY others)
Since this message thread seemed to have a very definitive list of models which do not support NEON I figured I'd post the link to it here so that OTHER concerned parents such as myself who'd like to get their kid back up and being able to enjoy the game will now have a point of reference for knowing which models they can AVOID.

Just checked this. Wife's Samsung S6, daughter's Moto E gen2, and my Nexus 6P all support neon.
The Acer iconia tab 8 A540fhd has the Intel atom quad core and there is no neon support. This device has failed to launch MCPE for over a year.
Major kudos on this for finding a link (from 2015!)

I use a ipad mini and my game does this exact same thing? I have no idea if it has this neon thing because there is no app to check. Help?

MCPE 1.0 crashed the other day on me while playing offline and the issue only resolved after connecting to Wi-Fi. I play on a Wi-Fi only iPad Air 2 with iOS 10.2.
This was an odd experience considering I often play on my iPad without an internet connection.

On Amazon Fire. Updated to 1.0.0.16. Started nrew game and added fantasy texture. Hit play and game crashes returning me to home screen. Force stopped game in app settings and tried again. In list of games is the game I tried to make and I start it, game crashes again.

Just installed 1.0.6 and it has fixed the problem on my Samsung GT-P7510 with Android 4.0.4. Black screen on startup problem started on my system with the update to 0.15.1 back in June of last year. It has been a long time coming but better late than never. Since I was originally prompted to move my problem report here from MCPE-8332 I have also commented on that issue. Thanks for the update.

I can confirm that while my Samsung SII (Model SPH-D710) with Android 4.0.4 it started loading MCPE at version 0.16.2 again but took approximately 1 minute and 20 seconds to load the screen. Now, I just installed version 1.0.6 and with version 1.0.6 that start time is down to 47 seconds.
Good Job!

I'm glad to see the latest updates are now working for some devices without NEON support. Unfortunately, mine still crashes. Happy to provide any info I can to help solve this (almost year-old) problem.

Just started crashing for me on 7/10/17, nobody had used it for a few days, not sure what changed.
The Mojang logo on white screen comes up, then after a bit the application tanks. I have tried opening it in "airplane mode" as well as after rebooting in airplane mode. Still crashes.
Window 10 version, as of last week we were running build 399004, dated 2017-06-29. I think it's version 1.1.3.52 but hard to say without getting it to start up. Unless you can point me to logfiles that would tell what version we've been updated to...
Windows 10 Pro, build 15063.413
Intel HD Graphics 4400, driver 20.19.15.4531, dated 9/29/16 (what Windows says is installed)
(slightly concerned about the driver because Intel's site says the latest driver has a newer date but an older version number)
This may be a red herring but I did notice a few days ago that Windows has in some sense changed its idea of our monitor (HDMI connection), as it's making the "hardware connected" chime when monitor is powered on/off or HDMI cable unplugged, for the first time ever. Monitor is a Dell S2409W. Driver version 1.0.0.0, date 5/11/2009, the driver file has a timestamp of 3/18/2017.
PS - no texture packs or third party anything.

Our realm is experiencing very frequent crashes since the 1.1 update as well as extreme lag. Often the realm will start to lag, chunks will fail to load, it may or may not be related to people going through other dimensions like nether/end or someone trying to join the game. The realm will crash, all players will be ejected and try to rejoin the realm. The realm will immediately crash again and get caught in a kind of loop where it is crashing back to back 3-5 times in a row within a 10 minute period causing the players to eventually give up and stop trying to rejoin the realm. Eventually after no one trying to connect to the realm for at least 10 minutes, the realm seems to catch up with itself and players can again connect but the realm continues to lag. This has happened several times over the last couple of days and did not happen at all prior to the 1.1 update.
