I am having same issue & cannot use 1.7.2. The error originally blacked out the world. I tried everything. Completely removed minecraft folder & launcher as well as java & still does it. It turned to xray instead of blackout when I only reinstalled 32 bit java. If I take torch out of hotbar it goes back to normal after awhile or if restart, but as suun as pick up torch does again
Have same issue. 1.7.2 is unusable for me. It originally blacked out world, but is now cray when I completely removed minecraft & java & only installed 32 bit java back instead of 64.
