Still having this issue, the game is also unplayable, lagging all the way, blocks are put down and moved back, impossible to play, split screen doesn't log in, can play as a guest only, plus while i play solo i have new graphics and shaders, when we log on split screen, we are getting old graphics and no shaders
And all the shaders and better graphics are also gone when we have on split screen

I confirm — everything works perfectly now. Chromium and Firefox on Linux show the same version. Thank you!
As of today the situation changed a bit. It's now possible to download Minecraft for Linux on Firefox but it's not the default option. See below for comparison.
