@unknown: Did you try to set Mipmap levels to 0? It seems to help me in 1.8
I still have the same problem in 14w34d. In 1.7.10, I was able to fix this by setting the ingame anisotropic filtering to 16 and keeping mipmap levels off.
I also have this problem. I am on Linux, and am using Java 1.7.0_65
My driver overrides do absolutely nothing to minecraft. In my case, it seems minecraft ignores them and does its own thing, and therefore I have to rely on minecraft's own settings.
