I can confirm this issue.

I had been experiencing what appeared to be random freezes when dying for several months, but I never knew the cause until I found this report. I have Sprint remapped from Ctrl to Tab, so I was frequently pressing Tab during gameplay.

After seeing this report, I followed the reproduction steps and was able to reproduce the freeze/crash on my system.

Additional information:

• Reproduced on version v26.31.

• Experienced on multiple PCs (both a desktop and a laptop).

• I can confirm this has been occurring since at least January 10, 2026, though I believe it may have started even earlier.

This issue appears to explain the seemingly random death-related freezes I had been experiencing.

It still hasn't been fixed.
