After the update of the launcher yesterday, September 28, 2011 on the old 10.11.6 (but supported) MacOS versions, the luncher no longer works. From the log file we see that it is an authentication error with the account service on xbox. the same xbox account on a newer version of MacOS 11.5.2 works with minecraft
To improve the situation it would be enough if they made the old version of the launcher available 😞

a full reinstall of Minecraft helped to resolve the issue. I was then able to download the package
I tried the suggested workarounds except the full re-install of Minecraft. Unfortunately these do not work I cannot do any changes in the settings to the package, it just sits there in 'downloading' status.
re a full uninstall - how would I go about that? I would not want to loose all the worlds and settings, is there a way to back these up? I looked into the system folders of the tablet but could not find any. I tried to change the save location to external but still no files.
Thanks Jay for your fast response. I see that the main ticket you refer me to is for the Win10 platform. Would it still be a duplicate?
Please fix the problem for MacOS 10.11.6 as well. Not everyone can update MacOS
