Oh, I lost all items… Be careful to delete ~/.minecraft … or reinstall minecraft-launcher.
I had the same issue. First, I removed ~/.minecraft. Second, I reinstalled minecraft-launcher from archlinux AUR (git clone).
If it does not work, try > sudo minecraft-launcher.
