I'm having the same problem but on 3 out of 4 worlds. the only one i can get to load is 3.2 megs. the other 3 are 17 megs 1gig and 1.1 gig that wont load.  it does 1 of 2 things when i click on the worlds. 1. sez " updating 1 of 1 pacts" then goes back to the select a world screen and wont let me click on anything, or #2 starts loading the world then crashes. ( closing minecraft and going back to windows 10)  problems started 12-14-18 the 1st couple days of the new 1.8 patch it was fine.

its not fun coming back to your village and there all dead or zombies. i was hoping the better together patch would also fix this but nope. Hard to have cool villages and citys without a population. i play on Windows 10 version.

I occasionally find a pocket of 5 mobs usually just creepers and bone archers 3 are usually in the water. i ride around all night on my horse looking for mobs only find the pack of 5 about every other game night, spider spawners and the nether seem to be spawning as normal except seems like more pigmen. tryed it in normal and hard. then reset to peaceful and back, no changes. also every couple nights i find 1 spider and 1 enderman then nothing for a couple nights
